According to the first responder, everything about the response was completely botched.

“Everything I was trained on mass casualty events says they did the wrong thing,” he explained. “You don’t wait for the scene to be cleared. You go in immediately armed. Retrieve the victims. You can’t leave the victims laying there.”

The EMS worker believes that if he and other medical responders were allowed to enter the building as soon as they arrived, they could have saved more lives. He explained he was willing to risk his life to save the lives of others and was very frustrated over the situation.

Can EMS go in immediately??

depends on the protocol. In most (all) cases currently EMS cannot enter until secure. Following an airport shooting, protocol modifications allowing an EMS team to follow immediately behind a LE team clearing the area is being looked at.

I concur! Unless the cops knew what was happening beforehand or under standing orders, why would they not respond?! In crisis situations base reflexes take over. IMO a cop minding his own business would be surprised by the gunshots and curiosity would lead him to investigate. Not hide...even if he was a coward.

We can hold Broward County’s Promise Program as the root of the entire chaos at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Here is the purpose of the program from the website:

https://www.browardprevention.org/behavior/promise/

The PROMISE Program (Preventing Recidivism through Opportunities, Mentoring, Interventions, Supports & Education) represents the most comprehensive thinking available to address socially unacceptable or illegal behavior, targeting both short and long term academic success, aligning best practice models and Restorative Justice principles, and developing pro-social and resiliency skills. PROMISE, while addressing the behavior specific to the youth, is committed to addressing family and community circumstances that serve as both strengths and challenges for the youth’s resiliency. PROMISE is an intervention-based program designed to correct student behavior that violates Policy 5.8 and/or Policy 5006, Suspension and Expulsion. PROMISE utilizes a comprehensive set of supports and education. The intent of PROMISE is to safeguard the student from entering the judicial system.

They had been using blanks for the first “drill” so perhaps had no live ammo when the shooter presented. Knowing they were thus defenseless, chose to stay in place.
Just a thought.....

Not without cover. A favorite muzzie trick is to set off bombs so the first responders entering the scene are blown up as they arrive to treat victims from earlier devices. Or ambush them as they arrive. Some department’s have SWAT team members cross-trained as medics to deal with these situations, but not many.

Deputy Peterson now claims he thought the shots were coming from outside the school, and therefore he followed protocol.

The whole situation smells like month-old fish guts.

N. Hubby is a retired firefighter and they always had to wait on the police to release/clear the scene for them.

I read that the captain was a retiree given the job even though she was not qualified. It’s buried in here somewhere (https://twitter.com/TheLastRefuge2/status/966854507744374784)
but I’m too lazy to dig it out again right now.

So not only did the cops cower in place, they apparently prevented EMS workers from saving lives.

They also tried to prevent the Coral Springs officers from going in, but the CS cops blew by them.

CAIR: TERROR IN THE USA 2018

Fla. Governor Scott has ordered an investigation of terror-tied Muslim CAIR group to Broward Sheriff Scott Israel .

Israel's deputies did nothing during the Broward school shootout that killed 17 teens.

But it was recently revealed that Sheriff Israel provided weapons training to members of a radical mosque with ties to Muslim terror groups.

All radio traffic to and from on-duty police is normally recorded.

It will be interesting to know if that is the case in the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

Broward Sheriff's Dept has a call into Hillary to borrow her copy of Bleach Bit.

It took the Las Vegas responders MORE than 35 min to simply go up to the 35th floor AFTER they had arrived at the Mandalay.

Some say they had to wait on permission from the Mandalay to go up, but others say the permission ahd to come from elsewhere.

Then EMTs all over the country need to be asking themselves what they will do if the police refuse to go in.

Some states they are allowed to carry and will..... albeit 99% of the time cops arrive at same time or before EMS / FD. As well there are different EMS . They can be part of the local emergency services, fire department, commercial companies, or provided by local hospitals. Each one has different standard operating procedures. The non-local government EMS will wait out of the line of fire till cleared to approach . The local city payroll EMS will have a different set of rules ..... our local EMS is volunteer like our fire department and the local sheriff and city chief of PD know they carry for self defense . Small Texas town policy of course may differ from polidiot policies in big city Kalipornia.

Unless, of course, a situation was set up deliberately for mass casualties in order to advance the gun control agenda....
