According to the first responder, everything about the response was completely botched.
Everything I was trained on mass casualty events says they did the wrong thing, he explained. You dont wait for the scene to be cleared. You go in immediately armed. Retrieve the victims. You cant leave the victims laying there.
The EMS worker believes that if he and other medical responders were allowed to enter the building as soon as they arrived, they could have saved more lives. He explained he was willing to risk his life to save the lives of others and was very frustrated over the situation.

It took the Las Vegas responders MORE than 35 min to simply go up to the 35th floor AFTER they had arrived at the Mandalay.
Armed security from the Mandalay Bay reached the 32nd floor about 22:12.
The firing stopped about 22:16.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officers reached the 32nd floor, where the shooter was, about 22:56.
They breached the door to suite 32-135 about 23:20.
That was about an hour after the shooting stopped.

An active shooter killing children is not a military engagement. Securing the perimeter increases the death toll. Engaging the shooter is the first priority in protecting children.
The life of an LEO is not of greater value than the child he is bound to protect. It is always better for emergency personnel to absorb bullets than to allow those same bullets to kill children.
The police on site had the absolute moral obligation to die protecting children. There were teachers and students who understood this clearly.
Well, the Sheriff certainly isnt responsible. He told us that himself. Laughing him to scorn.
No, that’s why it’s the NRA’s fault...
Reminds me of Chicago. Democrat Precinct captain pays disturbed kid to set fire to apartment buildings to make them cheap to buy by the #2 political power in Chicago. One of the burning buildings has a 2 year old standing on the couch at the 2d floor front window banging on the window while smoke is pouring out from all sides of the house.
A neighbor and I grab an extension ladder and start to raise it to the 2d floor window. The police are ordered over the radio to stop us and not allow us to save the 2 year old. The police are told to wait for the Fire Department and just do crowd control.
There is a brand new 5 engine Fire Station just 3 blocks west. But dispatch is ordered to dispatch fire trucks from a fire station over 5 miles away. That was the same for all 103 fires in 93 buildings in the 2 block area in a 9 month span... all set by people paid by the Democrat Precinct Captain.
Of course, the 2 year old died... of smoke inhalation.
He doesn't want me using his name for fear he will get fired....
This captain is female and had retired from a neighboring PD. So, you've got two guesses and the first one doesn't count.
Once the shooter got inside it became a hostage rescue. They should have gone in immediately and EMS would have followed them in. I guess when you get paid for not reporting crimes, the higher ups were worried about their bonuses.
My daughter is a paramedic. This person is crazy. You do not run into a live fire situation, just as they don’t run into a burning building. The last thing you need is a wounded paramedic.
We Fire/EMS are told to “stage” if we are dispatched into a dangerous situation. Whether we choose to do so is up to the LT’s (right seat of the truck) discretion.
Our training for the last several years have been based on the lessons learned at Sandy Hook and other incidents that indicate that these shooters give up or kill themselves when confronted.
The general consensus in our department is we go in. Some of our guys are FD/PD and legally carrying. Others might have forgotten to remove their concealed carry when they changed clothes this morning.
If the cameras were in real time. ...they would know what to do.
I’ve been making this same point for days to people I know. And everyday, I hear even more stupidity about this shooting.
1 Over 40 calls to cops ignored over the years
2 Armed Deputy on scene fails to engage shooter.
3 First Deputies to arrive fail to enter school
4 Video on 30 minute tape delay
and it just gets more and more stupid
Yet, the news media has made the NRA as the bad guy!!!
My sheriff's office requires all uniformed deputies to wear body-cams. I think that is the only reasonable policy.
“Yet, the news media has made the NRA as the bad guy!!!”
Everything is the bad guy-————except the bad guy.

The lesson of Columbine is, as Shakespeare put it,
"Desperate ills are by desperate measures cured or not at all. When a murderer is shooting undefended children, you cant expect to minimize casualties by playing it safe. And if that means braving a possible ambush, and if that means risking friendly fire casualties - well, it is what it is.
In the case of the football coach, it meant going in with neither the armament nor even the armor that the deputy sheriff who was establishing a perimeter had.
Sheriff Israel said that his deputies were well trained, but he also said himself that the school guard shoulda gone in. And yet that guard and three other deputies were sure they were following instructions when they did nothing of the sort.
