Like POTUS says....if you don’t have your own steel and aluminum, you don’t have a country.

Also, which enemy would supply US with much needed steele/aluminum, should we go to war?

Their legacy came from when Chinese laborers were mining on the West Coast and had to wear something sturdy. And Levi came up with his jeans, and it caught on.

Now, Chinese laborers are making Levi’s. In China.

Blue Jeans are made in Central and South America...

Thank goodness I make my own hooch!

Kentucky bourbon...a Harley...designer bluejeans...?

Things me and 99% of the rest of us Americans can’t afford in the first place.

Bring it, Frenchie! ;)

If you saw what a pair of Levis or a bottle of Jack Daniels costs in the EU, you would already think they have a tariff.

When I was a dependent in Germany you could sell the bluejeans right off you butt for $20 (about $200 current dollars). The biggest buyers were Czec tourists.

It’s a bunch of symbolic BS for domestic consumption.

The EU doesn’t want this fight.

They run a $150 bil surplus with the US and it’s on a trajectory to go to $200bil by 2020.

Trump should just announce that if they object to a core national security requirement of the United States, he will tariff ALL EU goods 25% and decline to honor the NATO treaty.

Game, Set, Match. They’ll crumble and beg forgiveness.

“If you saw what a pair of Levis or a bottle of Jack Daniels costs in the EU”

That’s nothing.

In Japan a pair of Levis used to cost $200, when we could get them on base at $18.99. Had to buy ‘em small though.

And for a bottle of Jack Daniels and a carton of Marlboros in Sasebo, I got a full week of unlimited beer, liquor and food at the local bar.

All of the iconic American brands, worldwide, are taxed and tariffed beyond comprehension...often 2 and 300%. And that’s IF you can even find them...usually only on the black market.

A moot point.

The way things are going over there, in a few years or so bourbon and blue jeans won't be allowed under the developing EU caliphate anyway.

Oh that’ll do it. Add a tariff on top of the tariff as well as the VA tax.

Whats gas now over there? I know in the UK it was about 4 and a half bucks a gallon back in 01-02 the last time I was over.

BTW, you can reclaim that VAT money, but the hassle aint worth it.

Who buys Levi’s anymore? A tariff on yoga pants would be a lot more damaging. LOL.

I saw a decent sized bottle of Jack Daniels in europe last month for only like 12 euros. It’s gone way down in price. I’m not sure why. Even with the tariffs it will still be cheap.
