Fast forward to 2018, the entrepreneurs have scored major financing.

Three young entrepreneurs in their mid-twenties sat nervously in the Hong Kong office of Solina Chau, one of the world’s most powerful women. Chau, founder of Horizons Ventures, oversees investments for multibillionaire Li Ka-Shing, focusing those investments on disruptive technologies she thinks the world needs.

She’d been introduced to Ryan Pandya, Perumal Gandhi, and Isha Datar by Horizons consultant Josh Balk, who himself had co-founded food tech start-up Hampton Creek just a few years earlier. Now, all four of them sat anxiously before Chau as they discussed the new start-up Perfect Day’s big idea: producing real milk without cows.

  https://qz.com/1220264/perfect-day-meet-the-startup-that-makes-milk-without-cows/?itx[idio]=5977704&ito=792&itq=bb434221-f308-4ce3-8a0d-1c98f67db75f

Perfect Day’s plan was to make milk using the exact dairy proteins cows create, but with designer yeast instead of cows—and in a matter of mere days.

In other words, why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?

Phoeey!

I only allow whole milk and real butter in my kitchen.

I want to keep as many cows gainfully employed as possible.

Cows are cool!

So they are making fake milk in a factory.

I'll stick with Evangeline. She makes milk out of grass and weeds.

Raw cows milk is an amazing food. It’s a perfect food, and comes with the right enzymes for digestion. Many people who have problems with pasteurized dead milk can enjoy raw milk without any digestive trouble. In fact, after several years now on raw, I cannot digest pasteurized milk in milk, cream, or ice cream form (at least I still can eat cheese).

It’s also the best base for an infant formula for adopted babies or babies who don’t have access to raw human milk from a woman with a good diet. (Needs added brain fats and a few other things for our amazing human brains). I’ve seen what an amazing child it can grow.

My First Sgt in Germany said the same thing about the extremely ultra pasteurized milk that he threw out on the hood of the jeep everyday for the 45 day ReForGer field trip. Nobody touched that crap either.

Sometimes scientists invent non-milk milks that don't go very well on your morning cereal, and may come back later to surprise you.   (IOW, you have to keep a close eye on some of these non-milk milks...)

So... because the fake milk is made in a lab, no materials are required to produce it?

It’s like they think that lab produced food would just be produced from nothing! In reality, I haven’t seen a single one of these fake foods that could be produced artificially more economically than the natural process.
