Australia and Canada both don’t have a second amendment. So unless the Supreme Court changes that, it won’t happen. Most likely we will not have this happen if ever for 40 years (if we get another justice or two on the court that is conservative).

USSC might rule after the fact. That won’t stop NY and CA from starting.

The ABC countries not only do not have a Second Amendment, they have no right of self defense.

If you shoot an intruder with your registered gun, you will be arrested and charged with actual or attempted manslaughter. Automatic. If the police later determine that you had no other choice than to shoot to defend life & limb, the charges may be dropped & you will not be charged again.

Protection from double jeopardy, they say; guilty until proven innocent we say.

And if the home invader you shoot is a Muslim, you can still be charged with a hate crime.

No plans here to visit any of those nations.

The Supreme Court can't change it.

Legally.

The courts have flagrantly violated the Constitution for years. They can say what they want at this point but I can read the plain text and simply understand the Constitution.

Shall not infringe...

Gun confiscation does not hinge on perception of the Constitution but on only one thing. The perception that Americans might resist confiscation.

If the first test confiscation results in the deaths one or two confiscators, confiscation is off the books for another generation. If it goes smoothly, then the last slave free nation will pass in its sleep.

(I’m going through this thread point-by-point)

“Australia and Canada both don’t have a second amendment.”

Neville Chamberlain had a piece of paper signed by the Germans promising “peace in our day”. In other words, the paper is ONLY as good as the respect it gets from the people who are to enforce it.

“So unless the Supreme Court changes that, it won’t happen.”

That is EXACTLY the fear, because Leftist judges have shown no compunction to ignore what’s in the Constitution, if it doesn’t serve their purposes.

“Most likely we will not have this happen if ever for 40 years (if we get another justice or two on the court that is conservative).”

Agree, but only with your qualifier. If Thomas is replaced by a Leftist, don’t expect much respect, if any, for the Second Amendment. If Thomas and Alito, for example, are replaced, don’t expect ANY respect - the Second Amendment will still be there, but it will no longer have ANY effect on Supreme Court rulings.

On the good side, replace Ginsberg and one other Leftist with two Gorsuch’s - and we are set for at least a generation...so there is hope, but very, very, little room for error.
