BREAKING: Florida House passes gun control bill

TALLAHASSEE — The Florida House on Wednesday gave final approval to a bill that restricts gun sales and sets up a program to arm some teachers and other school employees. The bill is a response to the Feb. 14 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 students and faculty dead. The final vote was 67-50. It came after an all-day debate on the measure. Democrats favored the gun control provisions in the bill – a ban on bump stocks, an increase in the minimum age to buy a rifle from 18 to 21 and a three-day waiting period for all gun sales – but object to the “guardian” program that would arm some teachers and other school staff.

Give Trump a 2nd term and a 7-2 Court; and Florida can pass gun butt stock safety action bar magazines, and it will be overturned within a year...

My rep voted for it! She, and her husband, will hear from me! I called and emailed to no avail! Her husband assured me this weekend that she would vote against the measure.

“Do males still have to register for the draft?”

Do females have to now? Rostker v. Goldberg SCOTUS ruling basically said if you are not part of the combat force you can’t be drafted.

Bammy did an E.O. to change that. Women can now be in combat. Not sure where that is going to go.

“If I can’t own a gun then I can’t register”

Dream on.

I suspect you’re a youngin. Hillsdale has a course on the Constitution. Worth your time. Respect Freedom. Respect Individualism.

A 17 year old can enlist with parental consent.

If the FL legislature going to suggest raising the enlistment age? What is it for the Florida National Guard?

There may be an exception to the law for 18-20 years olds who are currently serving in the Armed Forces, active or reserve/national guard, to continue to be able to purchase rifles and some other exceptions.

Sounds like there would be some 14th amendment problems with such a proposal.

If 18 is too young to buy a gun. Then 18 is too young to vote!!!

IS unconstitutional. In a sane world, the court would strike it down swiftly and decisively.

Bump stocks are really only effective in very, very specific conditions.

And that’s part of the reason that the people need versatile weapons for defense: the attacker gets to choose what they bring, as well as the circumstances of the attack, and can plan around any restrictions or limitations. A defender has to deal with only whatever they can grab quickly.

Oh it’s not do nothing law. It’ll do something alright, it’ll make law abiding citizens criminals and under the thumb of the state and a reason to harass someone out of their land and money.

So..in the pan handle no 16 year old can own a hunting rifle now?

Yea ()*#$)# Scott.
