“I think the handgun law is federal.”

The question is, does that affect only their ability to purchase a handgun under the age of 21, or their ability to own one under the age of 21?

Can I legally gift my 18 year old son a 9MM handgun if I wanted to?

That was the question I do not know the answer to.

(13) A person younger than 21 years of age may not purchase a firearm. The sale or transfer of a firearm to a person younger than 21 years of age may not be made or facilitated by a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer. A person who violates this subsection commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083,

A giant loop hole provided by the NRA. Private transfers(sales) are still legal.

No, under Federal law anyone under 21 cannot possess a handgun.
