This action by Donald may not be his most famous act, but may be one of his most important. I'm sure you techies out there can appreciate the enormity of what played out today and can explain it better than I.

It is a good thing. Most of our technology and infrastructure companies have already been sold to other countries.

Any other sources for this? I don’t believe it. I work for Broadcom and it is a spin off from HP. The only reason Broadcom was in Singapore is because they gave us 10 years almost tax free. Now the plan is to move the main office back to USA in something like 3 weeks. If true, stock is going to take a dive tomorrow, just in time for RSU releases.

“The merger would have resulted in the dismantling of Qualcomm, with Broadcom and Huawei taking any advanced 5G technology and leaving the rest for scraps.”
Worse, it could have resulted the implementation of spy code in every one of those chips, just like Huawei.
And that’s why Huawei cannot be purchased by ANY US Government agency, and the Feds issued a “do not buy” admonition to every local agency and corporate America.
This was a good block.

Donald Trump, in only the 4th time in 70 years, disallowed the merger of Broadcom and QUALCOMM. According to that first sentence, Donald Trump disallowed the merger of Broadcom and QUALCOMM 3 other times in the past 70 years. I know that's not what the author meant, but that's what it says.

I play basketball with the Qualcomm legal team at lunch every weekday at the Qualcomm in San Jose. It's a beautiful outdoor court and I think a lot of other Qualcomm’s have outdoor courts.
The legal team includes the Boss who can rain down 3 pointers from anywhere on the court and looks good even when he misses; a 300 lb flick-of-the-wrist dead-eye shooter who runs the court like a falling boulder; a fast-break specialist who is quick as the wind and can bank it in from every conceivable angle; a young 6'5” red-headed Irishman that doesn't look so good shooting even when he makes it but is a winner that gives a 100% on every play; and Coach, who is a Qualcomm engineer that more often then not leads his team to victory with smart play and good leadership.
Unfortunately it is raining the next couple of days so I can't get the inside info. However, the Boss did reply to a joking comment I made on Friday with something like “apparently the world thinks we control everything.”

Poor Chinese! Now they will have to invent their own technology, rather than buy/steal from someone else.
The only thing the Chinese can do is steal ideas and build something cheaper (through prison labor)
