US President Donald Trump has sacked Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, replacing him with the director of the CIA, Mike Pompeo.

Thanking Mr Tillerson for his service on Twitter, Mr Trump said the new state secretary would do "a fantastic job".

Mr Tillerson, a former chief executive of ExxonMobil, was only appointed to the job just over a year ago.

The president also nominated Gina Haspel to become the first woman director of the CIA.

The Department of State said Mr Tillerson had not spoken to the president and was "unaware of the reason" for his firing.

Under Secretary Steve Goldstein said: "The Secretary had every intention of staying because of the critical progress made in national security."

Pompeo is a tough guy and you can bet several Obamaites in the Dept. of State are nervous today........

There are no Obama appointees left at the State Department. Haven't been since a year ago January.

There’s a divine level drama behind this. Sometimes all plausible candidates are unknowns as viewed from outside. And so God allows them to be put to the test. A failure in position A may not mean a failure in position B, etc.

No.

And he will probably be happier spending more time on his ranch.

Tillerson was CEO of a huge corporation. I suspect he has the Texas disease, direct speak. No sugar coating. (Trumps NY bluntness, and Tillerson’s direct speak clash)

Both Tillerson and Trump are very opinionated.

Looking a little deeper, the demotion of Tillerson is the spotlight, but the promotion of Haspel is the prize. Trust that Trump's confidence is well placed.

Since Trump had to create the breakthru on North Korea himself, you have to wonder what Tillerson was there for. Can’t you imagine Trump telling him “Rex, just go out and humiliate him, call him “Little Rocket Man” or something to get him pissed off, then turn around kick him in the ass with stronger sanctions and you’ll see - he’ll come around and want to meet!”.

There is only on Donald Trump and Tillerson was a peer in experience and expertise but a totally different person with a totally different approach. It’s not that it didn’t work, but that it could NEVER work in the Trump administration. Trump needs people who can implement his vision, not people who are visionaries on their own.

> Why doesn’t Trump appoint people he can remain loyal to? <

That’s a very fair question. And you’ll probably catch some flak here for asking it.

Swamp creatures have tremendous ability to camouflage their intentions.

It can take awhile before they show their true colors.

Why doesn’t Trump appoint people he can remain loyal to?

Just by chance, I saw an interview of Reince Priebus by Laura Ingraham last night. Priebus described how Trump works. Unlike most people who seek uniformity of thought, Trump seeks out different personalities and vastly different opinions. He likes the debate and conflict, as he feels it gives him the widest viewpoints, from which he then can choose. He also wants results on actions. Its definitely not an environment for job stability.

“What has McMaster done that you don’t approve of?”

Well, for openers, he’s an arrogant a$$hole who is disapproving of his boss! Just like Tillerson. If you can’t be a loyal servant, you need to be gone. Being a Presidential Advisor or Cabinet Secretary doesn’t have among its duties to $hit on your boss any time he does something with which you disagree! These jerks have such big egos, they are forever tripping over them.

Not a surprise at all. The only surprise is that it took this long. Rex was saying a lot of stupid crap.

Pompeo is a good choice.

#7: "Wasn’t he a global warmer? Queer scouts?"

Correct on all counts.

Tillerson teamed up with Ivanka in a failed attempt to pressure President Trump into signing the Paris global warming treaty. Tillerson is a global warmer big time.

And it was under Tillerson's leadership that the Boy Scouts became the Queer Scouts.

Tillerson was a bad choice to begin with and many people warned against him. He is corporate group-think through and through. If corporate America thought "transgenders" were the latest trend, Tillerson would be in lock step, front and center, leading the parade.

It does not bother me. Tillerson disagreed with the President’s policy. It takes courage to be loyal.

***********

Tillerson was Chairman of EXXON. So to rise to that level he had mgmt skills
but those skills may not apply to those needed to manage a government Group.
