This Saccone guy had the campaign energy of a slug. Repubs better start finding candidates with a pulse if they’re going to win.

They prefer slugs with bank accounts.

Well, I'm as common as dirt, a real average schmuck. I figured it out. If I can, well, anyone can.

Frankly, I am sick and tired of excuses for supreme ignorance. (I don't mean stupidity - 'cause God spreads around the smarts.)

But those folks in the PA district have no excuse for not supporting Trump. In fact, above all else they do.... supporting Trump should be up there with keeping gas in their car and feeding their families.

At least the Lefty canvassers who came to your house were polite. I have had much less cordial experiences with them.

It is indeed dismaying how the GOP is offering up such weak, uninspiring candidates. Thoroughly underwhelmed by Saccone.

Still, I cannot comprehend how anybody could hate our magnificent President, whose only goal is to MAGA!!!!

Why aren’t there enough patriotic citizens motivated to GOTV and do their part to help advance his agenda???

Praying for Saccone tonight and that SCOTUS overturns PA’s redrawn CD map before the midterms!!

The jobs left because people let the jobs leave. If the district wants to hug the dem dragon, so be it.

They elected Trump to bring the jobs back. Now that they have a job they want to elect Democrats to make it all FAIR!

Sorry, but its not.

Most of the ad buys here have not been Saccone direct ads, but GOPe pac buys... and the messaging is ALL WRONG to generate turnout.

The message has all been trying to tie Lamb to Pelosi, you can’t get more national with your message than that.

The ads literally could be for any R candidate in the last 15 years.

Trying to lay this purely at Saccone’s feet is not accurate. He has no control over the various PAC’s and their messaging.

Sorry but I really don’t think you understand US electoral politics at all.

Turnout in special and mid term elections is ALWAYS low.

The party in power must deliver a message to motivate voters to turn out, and whether you agree or disagree with it, really doesn’t matter, that is what it is.

Getting angry people don’t follow politics as avidly or actively as you do is counter productive.

Most people do not live or die by politics. you have 30% D 30% R and 40% I give or take. Large sections of all those groups do not follow politics closely. You can like it or not like it, but that’s reality.

The party out of power is going to be motivated and turn out in your special and mid term elections, the party in power must deliver a message to motivate those people who are not political junkies to show up.

The RNCC, GOPe Pacs and Saccone’s campaign itself has not been delivering a message to encourage the MAGA voter that isn’t a die hard R to show up. Need to Motivate them to show up, if you don’t you tend to lose.

Trump won PA and the Upper Midwest because he gave Is and disenfranchised D’s a reason to vote for him. These people didn’t vote R before, they aren’t going to be motivated to show up by a campaign that could be for any R for hte last 15 years.... And sadly that’s been the messaging of this campaign.

R’s plan on doing this in the fall, they will lose far more than 23 seats and lose the house, no matter whether Saccone pulls it out or not

If those folks let Lamb-sneaky win, they are giving Pelosi a big, sloppy wet, open-mouth kiss with some serious tongue.

That's not entirely my point.

Right now, it's like watching an Olympic race with only one person running. Usually, you have several racers in a line, where the one in front takes he brunt of the wind while the rest get the benefit of less resistance. In team races, they take turns in front to keep the team rested.

This special election does not have the benefit of leveraging the enthusiasm of the entire country; it is facing the headwinds all by itself. The voters have no benefit of a bandwagon effect of being part of a larger movement, and might be more susceptible to gaslighting with no larger movement to compare against.

I would hope that any GOPe ad messaging would, in November, align with a national strategic message. An out-of-step message (if that's what is going on today) would stand out sharply against a national message, and would likely be quickly corrected (I hope).

Spare me the political-speak, mumbo jumbo. I've passed through all that drivel and I am way out the other side.

Read it all. Heard it all. Summarily dismissed it all.

It... is what it is... is a description of virtually anything. It is not an answer. It does not attribute responsibility. Moreover, restating a problem is not a solution.

I do not give a pass to folks who ignore the obvious impacting their lives, simply because the planets line up differently on an off year.

The voters - and only the voters - are responsible for today's outcome. We will find out today whether they deserve Trump or not.

You can’t leverage enthusiasm if you aren’t generating it.

The messaging that the GOPe, Pacs and Saccone himself is not a message that is going to generate enthusiasm outside the traditional R voter in this race....

The ads being run here, for the most part, could be run for any R in any election in the last 15 years. They are red meat for the base, and it shows to me that the GOPe still does not get 2016 at all, and this sort of messaging is NOT going to turn out the non traditional R voters in the fall, particularly in the Upper midwest that gave Trump the White House.

If those MAGA I and D voters were going to vote R based on the standard R messaging being offered, they would have voted R long before Trump... they didn’t, and they aren’t going to be motivated to show up and vote by old tired standard R messaging this fall... You aren’t going to be able to leverage a message that NEVER worked for these voters to suddenly work for them just because there are more races.

Its the very definition of STUPIDITY.. doing the same thing you have always done and expecting a different result! Trump won, and flipped this part of the country because he DID SOMETHING DIFFERENT! The ad messaging here is NOTHING different. You need red meat for your base, but if that’s all you are offering, you are NOT going to give these people who showed up to vote for MAGA who were disenfranchised before a reason to show up.

If the messaging being given for this race is the R game plan for the fall, they will absolutely lose more than 23 seats in the house. I am not happy to say that, but it is as obvious to me that this is going to happen if this is their message plan for mid terms, as it was Trump was going to take the nomination and the White House.

GOPe/Right Wing Pacs better WAKE UP, if the messaging for this election is your game plan for the fall, you will lose the house.

Sorry, but if you want people to do something for you, you have to give them a reason to... So if you want their vote, you need to give them a reason to give it to you. Demanding they show up for you, because you think you deserve it is not on them.

The messaging in this race is NOT giving the MAGA I and D voters a reason to show up.... if the messaging in this race is the plan for the fall, expect the R’s to lose the house.

You can’t leverage enthusiasm if you aren’t generating it.

I agree, but PA-18 isn't going to claim credit for the best jobs reports in years, or giving tax breaks to voters, or bringing manufacturing back to America, or the Dow/NASDAQ, or border control, or containing North Korea, or choosing the next SCOTUS Justice.

That's what's going to be the national enthusiasm message in November, based on things happening nationally now. None of that is in play in PA-18 right now.

These things COULD be generating turnout in PA-18, but they aren’t and they aren’t because the messaging being used here is NOT what it should be...

The messaging for Saccone should be, in 2016 YOU changed the world, you elected Donald Trump president of the United States, since then The MAGA agenda has done x,y and z... now Democrats want to take that from you... they want to stop it, and I won’t let them. I am Rick Saccone and I will fight for the MAGA agenda.”

But that MESSAGE is NOT being delivered, in fact Trump’s name is rarely if ever mentioned by Saccone... only in the last few days have I heard him dropping it, and its been in the insane soundbite of “I was Trump before Trump” Which is TERRIBLE messaging.

Trump won because he made it about “YOU”... Saccone and the GOPe and their PACS are NOT doing that... they are failing completely on messaging and have this entire election. This race would not be close if the MESSAGING was right, its NOT... and if the messaging they are using in this race is how they plan to run the mid terms, R’s will lose far more than 23 seats and the house.

No doubt about it.

I agree entirely with 77. I've been saying since Romney ran in 2012 that Republican candidates need to campaign on sending a slate of like-minded people to Washington to work with the President to deliver the agenda. For example, from my October 13, 2012 Election Report:

Romney really has to expand his campaign to include rallying with state candidates. He needs to show his coattails and demonstrate that he's a team builder.

As Romney campaigns in swing states, it's time for him to support the Senate slate with a message of building a team for the future. Romney has to convince voters that it's not enough to replace Obama, but that Romney needs a team in Congress, too, to work with him on putting America back on the right track.

I said the same thing about Trump at his rallies in 2016, that he needs to appear at his stump speeches with local candidates and implore voters to send so-and-so to Washington to work with him on xyz.

I hope that today's election is the agent of change to get Republicans to do your #70 in the redo election in November.
