Citi cracks down on gun sales: 'We want to do our part'

Global bank Citi is starting a new commercial firearms policy within the U.S. "to do our part as a company to prevent firearms from getting into the wrong hands," the company said today.

The new policy requires its new retail sector clients and partners to follow several practices: not sell guns to someone who didn't pass a background check; not sell bump stocks and high-capacity magazines; and not sell guns to people under 21 years old.

Ed Skyler, Citi's head of global public affairs, said Citi has a few relationships with companies that manufacture guns, and for those relationships, "We will be initiating due diligence conversations on the subject to better understand what products they make, what markets and retailers they sell to and what sales practices those retailers follow to ensure adherence to the best practices."

Citi is making a mistake here. Running gun channels off YouTube causes some harm because YouTube has no real competition.

Citi has *lots* of competition. You will not achieve a situation in which no lenders will loan to companies that sell standard cap magazines. They’ve decided virtue signaling is more important than the bottom line.

I don’t know where Cabelas gets their financing. Losing that account would be costly to a lender.

We can now ask Citibank:

What’s in your NWO wallet?

Exactly - the main reason I pretty much stopped shopping at Sears over 10 years ago.

I don’t think I’ve spent a total of $40 or $50 there since then.

Citibank can do what it wants, it's a business. Personally I have never, do not, nor will ever do business with them simply because it doesn't make sense to with someone who levies exorbitant fees on their customers. This is yet another reason.

Ed Skyler use to work as Deputy Press Secretary for Mayor Giuliani. Plus, in 2009 he tackled a mugger in Manhattan that had robbed a defenseless young woman.

I guess he didn’t learn much from Rudy. But he did graduate from elite universities.

Corporate America gets into the gun-grabbing game.

Yep. Citi signals their virtue and the other major banks will have to make a calculated decision: Will they lose more customers following Citi or not following Citi. Keep in mind, most people are sheep and only one side of the debate is allowed; the side that says guns are evil and the NRA is drenched in the blood of dead children.

What we are seeing will be the efforts to implement something of a work-around where guns will still be legal but it will be next to impossible to buy and sell them. Banks won't loan money to gun dealers for capital investment. Credit card companies won't allow point of sale transactions. Domain hosts won't allow store websites to be set up. Nobody will accept advertising. You get the picture. Being in the business of selling or manufacturing firearms will become so onerous, nobody will bother. And not a single law banning guns needs to be passed.

The framework for this is already being put in to place. It's frightening. The left plays to win.

Citi doesn't care.

Big red states like TX and FL need to pull their money from Citi. Deposits, loans, etc. The GOP needs to put up or shut up on 2A.

Used my Costco card from Citi for all my travel and Costco expenses. As a result, I had a substantial refund for 2017 and they made good money on my card. Going forward I will be putting all my charges on my Capital One Visa unless anyone knows of a reason to avoid Capital One. Will also voice my opinion with Costco but doubt they can or will be inclined to do anything as they just moved from American Express to Citi. Thankfully Costco accepts Visa cards from anyone, not just Citi.

So if you get robbed by a criminal, will you be blaming WellsFargo that they helped said criminal buy (or stolen, or illegally bought) the gun that robbed your branch?

I was just going to say Costco is a Visa user. I don’t have another visa card to use. But they lose money with me anyway. I pay off my cc every month. Rebate was around 1200 bucks.
