Report: Dem. Sen. Joe Manchin Has Been Talking About Switching Parties
Western Journal ^ | April 5,2018 | Nick Givas

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice claims he’s talked to Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin about him switching parties.

President Donald Trump needs Manchin’s vote in the Senate, Justice said Thursday on “Fox & Friends.”

“Joe and I had discussions along those lines,” Justice, a Republican, said.

“I wish Joe was a Republican to tell you the truth,” he said of the West Virginia senator.

“But to just tell it like it is, Joe’s got to do his thing and I’ve surely got to do mine and the president has got to do his. We need Joe’s vote.

“And to be perfectly honest, you know, this nation needs to get behind our president in a great way every day.”

Manchin has regularly displayed conservative talking points and his conservative flare continues to increase as he gets closer to a reelection bid in November.

Manchin went on CNN’s “New Day” in January and said the country needed Trump’s border wall.

He returned on CNN to rebuke House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s immigration rhetoric a few days later.

He also appeared on “Fox & Friends” in January and bashed Democrats for being disrespectful during Trump’s State of the Union address.

“That’s the way I was raised in West Virginia. We have respect. There is civility still yet.“There should be civility in this place,” he said in January.

“That’s disrespectful. Last night was disrespectful.”

Justice, formerly a Democrat, made the switch to the Republican Party after Trump took the state by more than 40 points in 2016.

Justice’s switch was largely ignored by the mainstream media networks.

NO!!! He has had a pretty awful record supporting POTUS’ agenda thus far. If he switched, he’d be WORSE than useless!

It looks a lot more opportunistic in his election year. We lost the Obamacare repeal by one vote.

Yep. No more tough votes. The Senate has basically checked out for the midterms.

Political pundits say Manchin is SAFE

Maybe that 40% advantage is just too steep to overcome?

Donald Trump in West Virginia: Joe Manchin Talks — But Votes Against Our Agenda

“I thought he would be helpful because he talks, he grabs me, I grab him, he says hello, I say hello — but he votes against everything,” Trump said.

The president made his remarks during a visit to West Virginia to discuss tax cuts and his future agenda for the country. He commented that Manchin voted against the tax cuts and health care.

“That’s bad, we can’t have it,” he said. “It is one of those things and he does other things I don’t like, I will be honest with you.”

He also complained that Manchin was not supportive of his efforts to strengthen immigration laws.

We have very weak laws because of the Democrats,” he said. “And Joe Manchin has not helped us.”

Senator Manchin’s votes speak louder than his words. He had a golden opportunity to vote for the “Trump tax cut package” and didn’t. He has failed to support the Trump agenda. Sorry Joe, West Virginia has some wonderful fishing holes. Enjoy your retirement...

WV isn’t going to vote for anyone not 100% against gun control. That’s why Gore and Kerry never had a chance. Hillary got the finger (literally) because of her war on coal statements. Stupid bitch then came to the state to campaign once. After her sendoff, she never came back.

Manchin is most likely dead meat even if he passes out free BJ’s at every courthouse in the state.

Manchin voted lockstep for Obummer’s commie agenda and now he thinks he may want to switch parties as he sees the avalanche coming at him? Come on, Mountaineers, throw this bum out. Vote for Morrisey.

No, an (R) Manchin would not be all right. It could be just to get reelected, then if Democrats get the Senate, he’ll keep being a Democrat. Vote for a candidate who is not prone to switching parties when convenient.

If he wanted to be a Republican, he could have switched in 2017. Now he’s facing reelection and knows his seat is at risk. A Democrat who could be trusted to switch would have helped the administration on the bills that have come to the floor, and Senator Manchin has not.

Manchin has led us down this road before with the party-switch tease, but his loyalties are and always will be with the dems. Any switch would be to ward off defeat in November and he’d be an untrustworthy presence.
