That is housing costs alone. No medical, no legal, no rehabilitation, no education, no training, nothing “extra”. Just housing this low life. Should have given him the death penalty but the only problem with that is that it is even MORE expensive.
Our legal system is seriously screwed up.
Just the fiscal cost to our society for this kind of dysfunction/feralness is astronomical. And it’s the gift that keeps on taking as it’s passed down from one generation to the next.
Let him run free to wantonly commit crimes the next 10 years, and the direct cost of those crimes will greatly exceed $2 million. And that doesn’t include the incalculable anguish experienced by victims.
$2 million is cheap to get vermin like this off the streets.

Yes, admittedly it’s expensive to house feral criminals, but when you put that number up against the distinct possibility that this Black “teenager,” if allowed to be free before he age where he needs a walker, would seriously injure or kill an innocent citizen makes it cheap.
If you read the article, it says he’s eligible for parole at 20.

Perp has had 2 jury trials, still appealing his DP sentence on the same grounds that have been denied, still sitting on TN Death Row. 28 years still NO JUSTICE.
