Used to read Flight Fax religiously when I was on flight status, many moons ago.
I am suggesting that the grim statistics need to be publicly brought to the fore in political terms & especially Class A accidents to show that our military was badly neglected by the Obama regime.
Right now, a fatal crash barely lasts one news cycle & then is largely forgotten. This must change.
Gee, how did you know I was in the 1st Cav? 1971-72, the last ones out of Task Force Garry Owen in M.R. III.
I had the highest respect for the infantry `grunts’ we carried around. Especially the LRPs after we picked them up & they were skin & bones after weeks in the bush. Loved it when we brought them a hot meal in mermite cans with a cooler of strawberry ice cream.
Different times, never thought Vietnam vets could look so old now.
;^)
I was no grunt but I would ride out to fire bases to work on
their radios and telephones.Got to sit in a Cobra and put on
that helment
You ever hear about those two slicks that got their rotors together
in the 298th Signal pad at Quang Tri? I was waiting to get on one of them.
Remember those lrp guys with their boots falling apart after a mission
Commo guy! That was my last job in the Army Reserve (ret. 2011). Worked on VRC-12 family then SINCGARS. Stayed on as USAR warrant until 62.
In 1997 a fellow Vietnam vet WO told me about falling apart boots & jungle fatigues upon coming out of the field; he was in Au Shau valley 1967 just before Khe Sanh.
Don’t remember main rotor kissing but heard rumors of such; did lots of hovering with twenty or more A/C awaiting pitch pull.
Welcome home, bro.
RIP.
