President Trump called Colorado Sen. Cory Gardner this week to tell him there will be no crackdown on states that legalized marijuana for recreational use.

Trump also said he will support legislation to allow state autonomy under federal law, which currently makes pot possession for any reason outside limited research a crime.

Gardner, a Republican, won the assurances by blocking Justice Department nominations after Attorney General Jeff Sessions withdrew the so-called Cole Memo in January.

cory gardner is one of, if not the, biggest POS in the senate. He is also the final straw on why I am no longer a republican. Trump should not give him the time of day.

Trump should not give him the time of day.

But Trump should abide by the Tenth Amendment. This is bigger than Cory Gardner.

Thank god Trump stopped listening to sleepy Jeff on this issue. There’s only so many hours in a day - why waste them going after states that want to legalize pot? It’s none of the Federal government’s business (see the 10th Amendment) and the WOD just grows and grows and grows the power and cost of government.

Well, I guess Jeff Sessions can just stay home now. Chasing potheads was his only job.

Gardner is a grandstanding, never Trumper puss. I’m still trying to find the bill he introduced to decriminalize pot at the federal level. Oh, wait, he didn’t introduce squat.

The major problem is that the Feds still label pot as a Schedule 1 drug. That means it has no useful properties at all and is a crime to possess. This is stopping insurance companies from reimbursing medical marijuana, and institutions of all types from letting it be prescribed by their physicians. This is extremely frustrating, and the neuropharmacology is now quite well defined, and strains have been bred that are very reliable in content and ration of CBD and THC. It is MAINSTREAM Neurology that CBD is a potent antiepileptic , and there are other well delineated benefits. The Feds need to change Marijuana to a Schedule 2. Recreational pot is not precise in dosage and can only be smoked.

That's right and little Cory could introduce legislation to change that. But he would rather run his mouth or the cameras.

Lighten up. This is great news. Federalism is strengthened, it takes the issue away from the dems, and is a nice bitch-slap at effJ Sessions.

Winning x 3!

FWIW Sessions said he would leave it up to the Federal prosecutor of each state and the CO prosecutor said he wasn’t going to pursue it making it a non-issue for CO.

Gardner, a RINO Never-Trumper, has just been using this issue to ingratiate himself to the Hate-Trump crowd. I’m going to do what I can to get his worthless lying RINO butt primaried out when he comes up for re-election.

But Trump should abide by the Tenth Amendment.

He campaigned on that point and now it sounds like he's following through.

You and me both. He did a good job of hiding his true colors when he was a congressman. Just another shape shifting swamp lizard SOS.

Trump is not exactly being a friend to SWAT departments needing numerous drug-related call-outs to justify funding increases.

Nor is he being friendly to off-books funding of the CIA and DEA and their Sinaloa cartel by means of weed importation.

Nor is he being friendly to the private prison industry and other private but government-connected companies which gouge inmates and their relatives for items such as socks and phone calls.
