In his decision Friday to pardon a former Bush administration official convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice, President Trump telegraphed his open hostility to the criminal justice system and his desire to use the power of the presidency as a personal political tool.
As with his controversial pardon last year of a former Arizona county sheriff, Joe Arpaio, who had been held in contempt of court, Trump effectively thumbed his nose at the judiciary by pardoning I. Lewis Scooter Libby. The Justice Department was not involved in either case, officials said.

Would the damn media bother to tell what the allegation was against Scooter Libby and what the actual conviction was and who the GENUINE leaker was and how many in the press were aware the whole time they were (and still are) hounding Libby?
“Time to reverse the Scooter Libby conviction”
syria trumps scooter.
Colin Powells cheap shot
The extent of the dishonesty is quite stunning. In a Cabinet meeting on October 7, 2003, the White House press corps bombarded President George W. Bush with questions about who the leaker was. Bush said he didnt know, but there would be an investigation to get to the bottom of it. Powell, who had been told by Armitage just days earlier that Armitage was the leaker, sat there next to the president, stone silent. Not very loyal or honest, was it?
Moreover, the notion that Armitages slip was somehow inadvertent is belied by Bob Woodwards taped interview in which Armitage repeatedly mentions Joe Wilsons wife, evidently doing his best to get Plames identity out there. This was no slip of the tongue. Woodward testified that when he spoke to Libby sometime later that Libby never said anything about Plame.
At issue here is not simply Powell and Armitages deception and undermining of their commander in chief. There was a victim, one whom neither Powell or Armitage has ever apologized to. The person who ultimately paid the price for this was Scooter Libby. Had the president and the country known about Armitage, a special prosecutor would never have been appointed.
Exactly. It’s a counterpunch to Comey and his book. Trump is smart!
funny how the WP and the other usual suspects, didn’t condemn 0bama for releasing drug dealers, and putting them back out on our streets. 0bama pronounced that drug dealing wasn’t a violent crime. I also seem to remember great numbers of pardons by Bill Clinton, without so much as a whimper by the media.
Putting Scooter in jail was absolutely political. I despised Bush for that. Everybody knew who leaked information about the fake b*tch CIA loser.
The Partisan Media Shills have been smearing President Trump (and before that, candidate Trump and Prosident-elect Trump) in support of continuous LAWFARE, and the ridiculous op-ed is just the latest example of shilling. Thanks Innovative.
