Former First Lady Barbara Bush, 92, decided Sunday to focus on comfort care in the face of her failing health, rather than additional medical treatment.
Following a recent series of hospitalizations, and after consulting her family and doctors, Mrs. Bush, now age 92, has decided not to seek additional medical treatment, and instead will focus on comfort care, read a statement from the office of George H. W. Bush.
Bush has been in an out of the hospital the past year battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and congestive heart failure.
The former first lady has been married to former President George H.W. Bush for 73 years, and is also the mother to former President George W. Bush.
"She is surrounded by a family she adores, and appreciates the many kind messages and especially the prayers she is receiving, the statement read.
She was always a nice lady. She fought for her kids and grandkids. I can’t fault that.
I suppose all of us could be a little more merciful to others.
It’s sad to hear about her terminal health but I give her my moral support to “fade away” in the manner she chose. If you see the end coming and suffer a myriad of painful attempts to fore-stay what is coming, I believe she made the right choice. It’s the same choice I would make for myself.
I suppose all of us could be a little more merciful to others.
Time for you to take your foul mouth conspiracy crap over to DU where you belong......You're a disgrace to this website and always have been..........
Join the crowd,I only did so because the other candidates were worse, but now wonder if there was really any difference...
Say fvckin WHAT!!?!!!
Godspeed, Mrs. Bush.
You’re a disgrace to this website and always have been..........
You are a crazy lady! If I didn't know better I would think you harbor 30 cats too..............
Even though my opinion of the Bush family has changed I will pray for Mrs. Bush and her family that her transition will be of comfort, peace and eternal life. One thing is for sure, she adored her husband and children. She’s a lady in every sense of the word.
Destroyed the sentiment. Couldn’t resist, eh?
I don’t subscribe to trashing anyone in our party, especially in their death.........I leave that up to DU and Yaelle......Sheesh!
A lot of people admire her. That's why her picture is on the one dollar bill.
My mom made the same decision when she was 93. Told one day that there were no more miracles, and there would be no more doctor or hospital visits. She died 4 days later. I think you know when your time is up. My sympathies to the Bush family. Barbra was the epitome of what a dignified FLOTUS should be.
You missed a fantastic opportunity. Imagine having one-of-a-kind one dollar bills with her signature on them? You let $thousands slip through you fingers.
Don't let this make you choke on your coffee.
“She was and is the epitome of class.”
Hmmm... She had money, but the way she trash-talked decent people like Sarah, Trump, etc., makes her class-less.
Still, I hope she’s made her peace with God and will be in His presence when her soul leaves this ol’ earth.
