There's such a thing as taking a stand, and there's doubling down on stupidity. This is adding some imported Dijon mustard to your foot before chewing on it level stupidity.

Did I much care if some company adds arbitrary restrictions on sales? No, not really. Maybe 17-20 year olds might be a bit miffed, but doesn't affect me much. Destroy your inventory? Umm, sure, whatever. Seems stupid, but it's your stuff, have at it.

But when a story dies down and the outrage towards your company might just be smoothing out, you don't go out and pimp the story around again. Especially in the middle of spring when a whole lot of hunters and target shooters are picking out what they want.

I wasn't jumping up and down to avoid Dicks before. But you know, pile on the stupid, guess I won't harm them with my ignorant money, including their Field & Stream stores as well as True Runner stores. I'll just bring my smartphone in with me, and blow their time and finger their inventory and then buy it elsewhere.

I don’t know if Dicks ever sold guns like AR-15, but I doubt it.

Years ago there was a Dick's store in a mall south of us. I went in there to find some pistol ammo and took a look at the, Remington version of the AR-15. That Dick's store had at least five of those in stock but had no other type or make of "black gun." They did have a pistol I sort of wanted and about two weeks later I went in to purchase that pistol and Dick's had pulled all handguns. I couldn't even get pistol ammo there anymore so I never returned to a Dick's store no matter where I have traveled, and that was at least ten or more years ago.
