*China has created Big Brother*
In some of China's largest cities, a high-tech effort is underway to bust low-level offenders like jaywalkers. Cameras record them going through intersections, zero in on their face and publicly shame them on nearby video screens.
It's all part of the Chinese government's new social credit system where people's daily behavior is monitored and rated.
"I think it's a good thing," one woman said. "It makes people more honest."
But this social credit rating goes far beyond a traditional credit score which is based on your finances. China's version factors in everything from jaywalking, to smoking on trains, to buying too many video games. If your score gets too low, you can be banned from buying plane tickets, renting a house or getting a loan.
Etc...

If you obey the law and are a 'good citizen', your social credit increases and you have access to jobs, housing, and travel.

China: Social Credit. Good Citizens Rewared. Bad Citizens Punished
Democrats immediately start taking notes.
Totalitarianism, just what the Left has ordered, with fries on the side.
China unveils their new Social Credit System.

I saw an interview with a woman who had lived under the Nazis and then the Communists. She said she preferred living under the Nazis, because, they told you what to do. If you did it, they left you alone. But the Communists wanted to control how you thought.
Korea sort of does the same thing. They have an extensive CCTV network. They actually have a TV station that just runs loops of the videos of any crimes being committed (things like burglaries usually) with the hopes that folks will recognize who the crooks are and will turn them in.
Videos are kind of fun to watch, a lot of guys falling off ladders as they are trying to break in through the 2d story window.
When the government controls everything, they can turn off your life.
In a free market, you can always find somebody to hire you, rent to you, and sell you a ticket.
Don’t think it couldn’t happen here. Just look at those pressuring banks and investment firms about guns.
