FReeper Canteen ~ Sunday Chapel ~ TODAY I CHOOSE TO SUCCEED ~ 29 April 2018
Serving The Best Troops and Veterans In The Whole World !! | The Canteen Crew

Posted on 04/28/2018 4:02:37 PM PDT by Kathy in Alaska

TODAY I CHOOSE TO SUCCEED!

I am here because of prior choices I have made. My thoughts control my actions. My actions determine my destiny. My destiny is controlled by my choices.

Today, I choose to …

• Live my life with honor, courage and commitment,
• Follow the rules and do my best in all my endeavors,
• Perform like a mature and professional military person,
• Be honest with myself and not make excuses for my actions
• Admit when I’m wrong and be held accountable
• Maintain a positive attitude.

I am who I am and where I am because of my choices.
Today I choose to succeed!

Prayer: Dear God, I pray that you will be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Help me always to choose the path which honors You, my family and my country. Amen.

That's an Army OH-58, (light observation) helicopter, a newer arrival for the more popular OH-6A helicopter we used in Vietnam.

BTW, I'm a OH-6A helicopter crash survivor, a period in my life that still haunts me from time to time.

I don’t remember many museums either. There was one on the Texas Tech campus, but it was historical, not military and it was totally hands off.

Huntsville isn’t that far, you should go! It would be a nice getaway for the day!

Good evening, Mayor, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.

Did you have to work Saturday? Get some “me” time?

Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...and a Blessed Lord’s Day and Shavua Tov to you and yours.

Did your gorgeous day stick around the WHOLE day?

The sun only popped out once today, mid party this evening.

Oh my! I can see something like that would haunt you. Not a pleasant experience. But the key word is “survivor” and I, for one, am glad of that.

There are all kinds of military museums around here these days but nothing back then. Most are totally hands off and that’s one thing people comment on about the museum at Monteagle. They can touch several of the things there and those they can’t, they can still get quite close to.

Yep, Huntsville’s close - - only about an hour away. We’ve been down there numerous times for one thing or another. Now we have another reason to go and this is a great time of year to do it, what with everything springing back to life. It’s really pretty this time of year along the route we take.

Yes, it is and that’s one reason some area teachers are taking their students there on field trips. With items from the Civil War on up, it’s a good way to get the kids more excited about learning history. If we’d had something like it when I was in school, I might have had better history grades. Just never could get into it then, though I enjoy learning about it nowadays.

I’m not going to be around much longer either. The alarm went off mighty early this morning and going to sleep early last night just didn’t want to happen.

Have a good day tomorrow!

Hey, you were awake enough to pay attention. LOL!
I’m starting to go into a stupor.

Didn’t help I was admiring adorable eagle behbehs. :-)

I don’t do parties, but I did have a good time. The party was at Mexico in Alaska. Dot knew the owener...in business for 46 years. The placemats were the menu and everyone ordered for themselves.

For some reason one knee started really hurting midday Friday and the pain has not let up. Ibuprofen didn’t touch it and I was awake all night with ice packs helping as long as I didn’t move, which was difficult as there was no way to get comfortable. I even tried sleeping in the lounger, which seemed to work better than the bed. Getting up and down at the party was painful. I’m going to try for some sleep here shortly, with more ibuprofen.

I’m glad you had a good time. I figured you would. :-)
But I’m sorry to hear your knee is acting up so badly all of a sudden. Had to put a damper on the evening and certainly isn’t making for a good weekend overall. I hope you can get some relief SOON. *Hugz*

"I VOW TO THEE, my country, all earthly things above,
Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love;
The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test,
That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best;
The love that never falters, the love that pays the price,
The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.

And there's another country, I've heard of long ago,
Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know;
We may not count her armies, we may not see her King;
Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering;
And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase,
And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace."
