Seems to me if a private citizen helps save the life of law enforcement or assist as a “good samaritan” they should deputize them (retroactively) for the purposes of litigation protection.
Shield them from adverse BS litigation and provide a limited immunity that sworn law enforcement enjoy when they act lawfully in the performance of their duties. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find qualified persons who want to be a policeman and everybody knows why. It’s going to be tough to find anyone to help them too.
If I see someone getting their head bashed in, civilian or not, it may just be prudent to look the other way, and keep on driving or whatever. Who needs the trouble? Not my clowns not my circus.
I have always said, I carry not because I want to be a cop. Much less anyone else’s savior. They can carry just like I do if they want better odds. I know the real assault on me begins after i have used my gun to save my life.

Yes, you could do that, but how would you live with yourself if someone you could have saved, died as a result of your “looking the other way!” Maybe you could do that, but I sure as hell couldn’t!
