Federal investigators have wiretapped the phone lines of Michael Cohen, the longtime personal lawyer for President Donald Trump who is under investigation for a payment he made to an adult film star who alleged she had an affair with Trump, according to two people with knowledge of the legal proceedings involving Cohen.

It is not clear how long the wiretap has been authorized, but NBC News has learned it was in place in the weeks leading up to the raids on Cohen's offices, hotel room, and home in early April, according to one person with direct knowledge.

At least one phone call between a phone line associated with Cohen and the White House was intercepted, the person said.

Previously, federal prosecutors in New York have said in court filings that they have conducted covert searches on multiple e-mail accounts maintained by Cohen.

I believe there are privacy rules attached to the President. Cohen isn’t a Russian agent.

I hope Guiliani addresses this because I doubt it is legal.

I saw a clip on Fox showing the arrogant Daniels lawyer, Michael Avenatti being interviewed by CNN. He belittled the Trump legal team and said he was going to open up an investigation of money laundering to avoid detection. Here is some excerpts from his rant:

Avenatti said that there would be a violation of campaign finance laws if Trump and Cohen structured the payment “in a way to avoid detection or in an effort to make it appear to be something that it was not, namely, a retainer payment as opposed to $130,000 reimbursement, that may involve money laundering depending on how it was handled.”

“There also may be tax issues relating to the deductibility of those expenses. If they were deducted as legal expenses for tax purposes when in reality it had nothing to do with legal services rendered, but instead was the reimbursement of the $130,000, that too is going to be a problem,” he said.

I think the Stormy Daniels case will put herself open to a violation of the non-disclosure agreement which she signed and it is binding. The other efforts will be defamation of Trump which can expose all involved to litigation. Michael Avenatti hang on to your seat—and your wallet.

It’s special counsel & deputy AG who should have their phones & computers tapped. Calling payment to Daniels an “in-kind” campaign contribution was a stretch of the law. These people are making a mockery of the ideals of “justice”.

Would have been Great if they spent half as much effort, or one tenth this amount of time to look into Hillary Clintons Charity Foundation. This is not LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.

Sounds more like the USSR.

And it needs to end NOW.

I have no doubt that the intel they presented to the court to wiretap those phones was as phony as the fake dossier they used to start the Mueller investigation.

No doubt.

The Deep state is out of control. Every sentient being can see that.

The DOJ, FBI and NSA should have been purged on January 20 2017.

PURGED.

If Meuller says it's legal, it's legal - don't you know who's running this show, now?

So all Mueller has to do is blindside Trump with questions about what conversations he had with Cohen on a topic entirely unrelated to Russian anything, then pick at every detail with the recordings in hand to generate a perjury trap. Cute.
