AOKLAHOMA CITY Oklahoma's Republican Governor Mary Fallin vetoed a bill that would have allowed adults to carry handguns without a permit and signed another that permits religious organizations to exclude same sex couples from adoptions, managing to anger both gun and gay rights groups on the same day.
The twin actions announced late Friday were among more than a dozen decisions on legislation taken by the term-limited governor as she clears the decks in her waning months in office.
They also followed a tumultuous session of the Legislature that saw striking teachers march on the Capitol, prompting lawmakers to raise taxes including on the state's powerful oil and gas industry, to fund increases in education spending.

She’s gone next year anyway. I’m sure the GOP gubernatorial primary candidates will be falling all over themselves to show which one of them supports this gun rights bill the most. Just pass it again in 2019, it’ll get signed.
women and politics just dont mix...sorry.
The GOP legislature has the numbers to override her veto. Hopefully they will.

In a statement announcing her veto, Fallin stressed her support for the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms and noted she had signed concealed and open carry measures in the past.
“But I believe that Oklahomans are just not as smart or even tempered as those who live in those other states with constitutional carry, who trust their citizens to behave themselves and not act like drunken monkeys,” she said.

Stupid media. The assumption that gun and gay rights groups are mutually exclusive demonstrates once again their simplistic understanding of the American people.
She is real proud of her constituents. When does she need to ask them for their votes again?
Signing the adoption bill was far more important for the future than the gun bill.
“women and politics just dont mix...sorry.”
She signed the smoking ban too didn’t she? So did our very own guy Rod Blagsonofabitch. But at least he’s doing hard time for his transgressions.

Wow... I’ve been in OK plenty. Seen same-same... I’ll leave it at that.
I’m female and no apologies necessary -
Although I’d take a Maggie Thatcher over a John McCain! . . . always an exception to the rule. . .
i thought that was a joke. I can’t believe she actually said that.
Oklahoma State Troopers Association lobbied against this bill. So did the OSBI.
