And Boeing and Microsoft and Starbucks, and a lot of businesses that are successful but not household names.

BA HQ is in Chi not Seattle. MS is in Redmond not Seattle
(although there is a presence there). AMZN and SBUX are affected but the employees are for the most part tech staff for whom $275 per head per year is a rounding error compared to their 6 figure salaries and benefits. I really don’t see the established mega corps relocating because of this. The techies that live in Seattle are going to continue be a sought after resource.

Microsoft is in Redmond. Not legally Seattle. So I don't believe this pertains to them. Or else we might have heard from Gates I'm sure. This (I believe) was aimed headlong at Besos/Amazon (they want to get in on HIS money and apparently refuse to do so by actually working for him or as a contractor for his company--like hardworking people do).

People don't realize that this head tax is SEATTLE. NOT surrounding cities such as Bellevue, Redmond etc that have their own city counsels.

Also this is ONE of the reasons--besides space--that Microsoft built its campus in Redmond. Back then it was VERY rural area and didn't have all the tax and business unfriendly attitudes that Seattle has often swayed towards.

People don't know much about the commie/socialist history of the Seattle General Strike. But look it up. The strain of commie mentality is strong in this city.
