IG Report on Clinton Investigation “extremely long and thorough”

The Department of Justice Inspector General has sent what is described as an “extremely long and thorough draft” of the much anticipated report on the FBI and DOJ’s investigation and handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe, this reporter has learned. The detailed report on the FBI’s decision making process into the Clinton investigation could lead to possible criminal referrals for some of the officials involved in the case.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report, which is expected to be released within the next three to four weeks to the public, has been turned over to current and former officials for review, as first reported in The Wall Street Journal and Washington Post.

The draft, however, does not include any recommendations for criminal prosecution. If there was any evidence collected by the Inspector General’s office of criminality, Horowitz would then refer the matter to the Department of Justice and submit a criminal referral to prosecutors.

It is a draft. Maybe there is no reason to put criminal referrals in a draft document. Maybe criminal referrals are reserved for after the draft has been reviewed and potential errors corrected.

Like the reason Benjamin Franklin refused to do the Declaration—a document that will be revised and edited later by a committee.

"...There needs to be specific legislation to make sure, going forward that the DOJ cannot do a cover up under the guise of “investigating itself.” There has to be the power to independently investigate the DOJ and that power has to be vested in some entity other than the DOJ itself. Otherwise, we invite continuation of the crap and sedition that’s going on as this is being written...."

It already exists; it's in the Constitution in fact. It's called Congressional oversight and the DOJ and FBI have been thwarting their efforts regularly. Sessions, Rosenweasel and Wray have been dragging their feet, insisting that the ongoing investigation may be compromised and national security might be compromised or simply ignoring them. When the largely unredacted House report was re-issued sans most of the redactions we have seen they are simply hiding embarrassing and possible criminality with many of these redactions.

Rosenweasel and Wray deserve to be charged for contempt of Congress and Sessions deserves to be fired for incompetence at the very least.

Just putting in my 2 cents - I think Hillary is less of a factor in this mess than most here do.

This was a sophisticated attempt to prevent the election of Donald J. Trump, and, once that failed, to prevent him from exercising the powers of his office. And, it may not be over.

The use of a sick old drunk to win a rigged election and to allow Obama, Jarrett, Brennan, and Eric Holder to continue to govern through a figurehead was foolish (because only she could have screwed this up).

Hillary and Bill were not and are not part of the inner circle that’s behind all this. The most they were good for was money laundering, and, as it turned out, they weren’t really very good at that.

Obama, and whoever has been running him all these years, are the prime movers of this conspiracy. Which may be why the revolution in the royal family of Saudi Arabia was so important in the beginning of the Trump administration.

If it ever all comes out, I’m sure Mossad and whoever the trusted intelligence service behind MBS in Saudi is will have played a major role in getting to the bottom of it.

Forget the sick old drunk wandering in the woods. They threw her away like a broken toy. She’s no longer important (if in fact she ever was).

If the IG doesn’t produce the Report soon, the Movie will be out and no one will care about the Report.

Turned over to current and “FORMER” officials? What does that mean and why would a former official get the report? Like maybe Comey?

The draft, however, does not include any recommendations for criminal prosecution.

So, why go through all the motions?

“The detailed report on the FBI’s decision making process into the Clinton investigation could lead to possible criminal referrals for some of the officials involved in the case.”

And yet the subject of the investigation remains unscathed?

“[Comey] should have kept [Weiner’s laptop] to himself so as not to affect her chances of winning the election.”

Not sure that was his best option. As I understand some of the facts, I would say Comey was in a very bad political position. The laptop’s contents were known for at least a month by the FBI; Comey learned about it much later. Had he said nothing until after the election:

(1) if HRC won, he would be crucified by both the left and right and be out of office - the left because he was tainting her victory and the right for obvious reasons of failure to impartial justice and political favoritism.

(2) if HRC lost, the FBI and DOJ would no longer be in the position to write a position exonerating her like it did before and she would be in very real legal jeopardy. He might be allowed to remain in office in the new administration.

Since he announced days before election day, and then promptly dismissed any further investigation, there was not enough time to let things soak in to significantly affect the political discussion and change the few DEM voters who would be open to change and not to vote for HRC. This definitely was not going to change REP votes. All voters pretty much had their minds made up, and NY, CA and IL were in the bag - HRC was going to be elected.

Comey had to disclose the laptop before the election, then quickly remove her from the “FBI’s suspicion”, as the least risky position to HRC, but more importantly to himself. How could they review so many files in such a short time - don’t bother to ask, the MSM was running protective cover. What he did not count on was that it would come out relatively soon after the election that he exonerated HRC months before the “investigation” was completed. So his exoneration of HRC a second time w/out complete investigation to the laptop’s contents becomes plausible. And it protects her from a REP WH. I theorize that he had no choice to exonerate HRC the first time as BHO ordered it, and the message was delivered to him by Lynch. He already played this card once, not surprised he did it again.

If Comey were a true statesman, he would have resigned during the original HRC investigation once he knew that no matter what the FBI found as evidence against her, she was not going to be prosecuted.

Yes. Apparently the FBI wants Comey and McCabe to make any edits they see fit.

This report is either speculation or the OIG is leaking too. I suspect this is unsourced speculation.

This report is nothing but statements of facts...what happened. The report does not draw conclusions or make recommendations. Individuals mentioned or implicated in the report are given the opportunity to review and make a rebuttal. The rebuttal, if made, would be in the form of an attachment. Any rebuttal would be under penalty of perjury, if found to be false.

The IG can and has already made at least one criminal referral. A prosecutor (Huber) has been assigned.

When the report is made public, We the People will be able to determine if the report is a white wash. If the report is a white wash, this country is in deep trouble.

If the report is not a white wash, then I believe that President Trump will keep the pressure on the prosecutors to do their job.

Keep in mind that this report only deals with the DOJ/FBI handling of the Clinton e-mail investigation. The FISA abuse investigation is on-going.

Unless it recommends a convening a grand jury, this nothing but expensive toilet paper..

I thought that he was working side by side with a federal Prosecutor that has a Grand Jury convened. Am I mistaken cardinal4?
