Clint Walker, a former merchant seaman and real-life deputy sheriff who roamed the West as a towering, solitary figure on Cheyenne, the first hourlong western on television, died on Monday in Grass Valley, Calif. He was 90.
His death, at a hospital, was confirmed by his daughter, Valerie Walker, who said the cause was congestive heart failure. Mr. Walker lived in Grass Valley, about 60 miles northeast of Sacramento.
Mr. Walker also appeared in the The Dirty Dozen and other movies, but he was best known for Cheyenne, seen on ABC from 1955 to 1963.

Yes, I remember that.
RIP. Clint almost always played good and noble heroes.
I remember that.
I used to always get Clint Walker and Fess Parker mixed up...still do.
Love Jack Reacher books. TC is NOT what my mind conjures up for a picture of Reacher. I didn’t see the movie ... don’t want to pollute my imagination.
RIP. That guy was a hunk. Too many soy boy stars these days.
I remember reading about one exercise he would do.
He would go back and forth across the house walking
doing a handstand.That had to end badly every now and then.
RIP
That scene where he and Jim Brown show up in the doorway was priceless.
My wife and I meet him in 2003 at the Kanab Western Legends Round Up. He was still quite a Man and very humble. He didn’t normally pose for pictures with fans, but at his wife Susan’s urging (She could see how disappointed my wife was) He leaned over the table placed a hand on my wife’s shoulder and I took what turned out to be a very good picture of the two of them. My wife was giddy as a school girl!
God welcome you home.
A Cowboys Prayer
Oh, Dear Lord thanks for hearing my plea;
And from the bonds of sin rescuing me.
Dark was the path that I once did ride;
But now light is my trail with you as my guide.
Thought sometimes off your range I may stray;
But steeped in your word I soon mend my ways.
For uncertain and sad is the road ridden alone;
But certain and glad is my road when I atone.
For who better to guide me than he who made all;
Who could ride with the Lord and not ride tall.
Give us this day, our bacon and beans;
Knowing if the trail gets rough its on you we can lean.
And when it comes time for me to return to the ranch;
All I ask is that you would give this old cowboy a chance.
A cot in Heavens bunkhouse is all that I seek;
And a chance to ride for your brand forever in peace.

When TeeVees were worth plugging in.
Hey, could have been that other little dork, Keifer Sutherland?
We still have Ron Ely (Tarzan, Doc Savage-Man of Bronze) and Mike Henry (Tarzan, The Green Berets, Junior in Smokey and the Bandit) with us.
R.I.P. Clint Walker. Thank you, sir. Condolences to family and friends.

You may find this hard to believe but even some of those icons who never smoked have died. That’s the way it is.
.
He used to work on ore boats on the Great Lakes in the 40s.
3 decades ago I was in line at a hardware store in Woodland Hills, Ca. on a Sunday around 7 PM. I did not know it was him because he was in front of me with others behind but when he got to the cashier & spoke you would know that voice anywhere.
I heard he was a nice guy in real life.
So sad, but the greatest-generation herd is almost gone...
