Can a Democrat win the Alabama governor's race?

Alabama last elected a Democrat as governor 20 years ago. Former Gov. Robert Bentley received nearly twice the votes as Democrat Parker Griffith in the most recent gubernatorial contest four years ago.

The Cook Political Report labels Alabama's governor's race as "solid Republican." The same label comes from the Larry J. Sabato's Crystal Ball, produced at the University of Virginia Center for Politics.

"Barring some major developments in this race, it's difficult to see a path for a Democrat to win," said Geoffrey Skelley, associate editor with the Crystal Ball.

Said Waymon Burke, a political science professor at Calhoun Community College: "It's definitely an uphill battle."

Can a Democrat win the Alabama governor’s race?

“Sure. All he has to do is get mentally ill women to make 38 year old unprovable accusations against his opponent, and the Republican party will deliberately stab their guy in the back and urge everyone to vote for the Democrat. “

Your comment should be placed up on billboards all over the country. I will Never forget or forgive the GOP-E traitors!

The GOPe won a big one there when they took down Roy Moore. I know I’m not celebrating that.

This is what most people do not comprehend. There is much evidence that the two party system in Washington DC is an illusion, and that they are in fact a "UniParty" that does whatever the deep state cabal want.

Reform candidates (anyone who believes in balancing a budget and cutting back on government influence) are attacked by both the Democrats (and their massive media weapon) and the "Establishment" Republicans. (Which is most of them.)

Anyone who will cut spending and bring government under control is an enemy of the Washington/New York power corridor, and they will make every effort to insure that no reform candidate can be elected. Roy Moore was but the latest. They "Maccacca'd" George Allen, and "Witched" Christine O'Donnell, and "Racist'd" Chris McDaniel, and "Crazy'd" Sharon Angle.

There are plenty of others that they took out, and then proclaimed to be "bad candidates."

Democrats never have "bad candidates", even though most of the people they put up in a race are loony toons psycho crazy idiots, but the media Weapon never turns against them.

If the GOP nominates a Christian nutcase, of course a Democrat can win.

I disagree. The only way to destroy them is to beat the F*** out of them financially (and perhaps on occasion, physically) and use the force of law to break their monopoly on broadcasting opinion disguised as news.

We need to start treating them as if they are a deadly enemy, because that is exactly what they are. It is their control of the election system (through deliberately manipulated news) that has endangered this nation, and we need to put a stop to their control of the communications systems.

I would physically assault Jeff Flake were I to come into contact with him. That bastard needs to get his mouth punched for his various efforts to stab us in the back.

Richard Shelby would just feel the wrath of my tongue. I consider him more of an idiot than a traitor, but Flake needs his @$$ whipped.

Yes, we've got a lot of backstabbers in the system, and we need to work to get them out.

Went from upstanding Christian example to human garbage all on the basis of psychotic kook women (two) making unprovable accusations.

Yes, but nothing can change the fact that he ran a lousy campaign. And the GO-Pee wanted a corrupt swamp creature (Luther Strange) to win, and when they couldn't have that, they settled for a DemocRat.

If the GOP nominates a Christian nutcase, of course a Democrat can win.

So it is the "Christian Nutcase" factor that cause this loss? It wasn't the 38 year old lies and the deliberate back stabbing by Jeff Flake and Richard Shelby (among others) that did him in?

Why then did he win his Supreme Court seat with over a million votes? He was even more of a "Christian Nutcase" back then, wasn't he?

I think there is something fundamentally wrong with your "Christian Nutcase" Theory. It doesn't actually fit the available facts, but what it does do is conform to another theory I put forth in an earlier message.

"Everyone wishes to believe that Christian people are hypocrites"

Roy Moore lost because two liberal kooks made 38 year old unprovable accusations against him, and the national media weapon amplified these unprovable accusations massively, while the Republican party first cut his funding (alleging the accusations to be true) and then restored it (after the damage had been done) and then prominent members of the party urged everyone to support the Democrat. (Jeff Flake, Richard Shelby, Mitch McConnell)

So the loss is caused more by false accusations and backstabbing, and not so much by being a "Christian Nutcase." The people of Alabama were fine with a "Christian Nutcase" back in 2012.

It is the lying accusations and backstabbing that changed between 2012 and 2017.

Yes, but nothing can change the fact that he ran a lousy campaign.

I keep hearing that, but I don't know why anyone thought an amazing campaign was needed to win. Back before the accusations, I saw polls (from Alabama newspapers) showing him ahead by 20 points.

I'm not sure what he could have done to make a better campaign. Everyone in that state knew him pretty well, knew what he had done, and most of the voters had already voted for him in 2012. If left alone, he would have won anyway with virtually no campaign whatsoever.

And the GO-Pee wanted a corrupt swamp creature (Luther Strange) to win, and when they couldn't have that, they settled for a DemocRat.

And this is what I think too. Republican Senators in Washington, absolutely did not want a Christian Fundamentalist in the Senate. He would have been a thorn in their side constantly. (And a source of constant embarrassment, because he would become the archetypical "conservative" against which Liberals would campaign.)

They wouldn't have been able to cajole or bribe him, so they decided to stop him from getting there in the first place.

Half the country depends on the media to tell them what to think.

And this is why it is so dangerous, especially since virtually every communications system is in the hands of liberals.

I doubt any Democrat can win. James Fields is African-American. His politics are different from mine, but he is a personal friend. Politics aside, he has one vital qualification: he really is a good man.

All our side has going for us is the truth and that the left wing policies make life worse for most people.
