MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) - Leaders of the Myrtle Beach Branch NAACP held a press conference Thursday morning to express their expectations and what theyll be monitoring during the Memorial Day weekend bike fest.
A federal judge decided Wednesday that the City of Myrtle Beach and the police department could implement the 23-mile traffic loop over the holiday weekend. Judge Marvin Quattlebaum stated that the NAACP had to prove that stopping the 23-mile loop would benefit the public interest for their request to be granted.
"The court finds that the public interest is more likely served if the plaintiffs motion for injunctive relief is denied," the document says.
Or like a watermelon.
I forgot it was that time again. The time when the city of Myrtle Beach and it’s residents get held hostage by an army of thugs. Here’s an article that is a few years old and the only thing that has slightly helped is this loop.
If you want more of what the residents of the city have to deal with, Youtube Black Bike Week Myrtle Beach. Just have some eye bleach handy because you will need it after viewing some 300 pound tonnage on the back of a mosquito bike in a thong going down the road twerking.
The week “before” is Harley week. No controlled Loop to ride in.
This week & weekend is BikeFest (Black Bike Week). All must ride in the 23 mile Loop.
Because the people that attend Harley week don’t act like the one that attend BikeFest so the loop is not necessary.
Yeeeeeeup.
Yoooooooo.
I am STILL waiting for the NAACP to sue US and the Government for allowing THEM to use the word COLORED in their official title.
THAT may just be the straw that broke the camels back.
Kind of like NFL players ‘objecting’ to the N word and when the NFL BANNED the use of it in any and all of their facilities, the same ‘gripers’ complained the NFL was discriminating against THEM as they are the ONLY people who dare use the term..
Gets harder every day to remain neutral and rational with this crap.
I’ve been here all week, and leaving tomorrow morning asap. The police already have a large presence, and it seems to be needed. Don’t need to see the action, only need to hear the sirens and the screams of the rice rockets as they burn up and down small streets with 25 mph speed limits. The loop is only a reaction to the attitude that majority rules, and the majority wants to do what it pleases not what is lawful and road-safe. Time to take me and mine out of town and find the peace and quiet that left earlier this week...
Yep, it’s CRAZY LOUD. Locals get no sleep.
They can scream “racist” all they want and will be greeted with an eye-roll by residents and property owners in Myrtle Beach. It’s behavior, bad destructive disruptive behavior, not race. Two of my cousins own beach rentals there, pretty lucrative if you get the right sort of property in the right place at the right price apparently, even though I advised against it. Everybody else in the family bailed on Myrtle decades ago for calmer locales up the coast into NC or down the coast from Murrell’s Inlet onward. They both have a maintenance week coinciding with this event, not available for rental, about the only thing you can do.
Yes, and it really, really sucks for us locals. Most of us kind of hibernate Memorial Day weekend. Not worth getting stuck in the middle of the unruly “tourists” this weekend. Makes it really hard to celebrate what the weekend is truly all about - VETERANS.
Lighten up Snowflake.
If I was going to give SC an enema, I’d stick the tube in Myrtle Beach.
LOL, it’s getting better.
The City could use a face-lift & get rid of even more of the mid-70’s look.
OH, & powerwash the sidewalks. ;-)
The unruly have a tendency to ruin things for law abiding citizens
I don’t understand - I thought that when the Indian Bimbo prohibited the Confederate Battle Flag from flying and gave a nod to destroying the honor of people like General Robert E. Lee, everything would be just fine with race relations in SC.
The local NAACP took a survey and found out there were few bicyclists among them and said: this can’t be right, this race, it’s got nothing to do with us, therefor it must be wrong.
One Motorcyclist is dead when speeding away:
Black Bike week is a DISASTER for Myrtle Beach. The merchants HATE it. The participants are very destructive and chase away business.
10PM to 2AM. Nothing good happens during Black Bike Week between 10PM and 2AM.
