“CBS This Morning” gave generally fair coverage today to yesterday’s shooting at an Oklahoma City restaurant in which an armed citizen shot and killed the assailant.
But CBS couldn’t help but let the MSM’s fixation on gun control creep in. At the end of the segment, the CBS reporter on the scene, David Begnaud, said:
“We asked the police if that armed civilian had a permit to carry his weapon, and they told us they didn’t know but they were looking into it.”

Doesn’t matter. Several witnesses including a local radio personality, are claiming he ran to the back of his car and got his gun out. Looks like he had it in his trunk.
Oklahoma recently passed a bill to allow carry without a permit. The governor hasn’t signed it yet.
What if it was Maine, New Hampshire, or Vermont, where we don't need any stinking permits?
Hope the citizen did. OK gov recently vetoed SB 1212, which would have allowed constitutional carry.
We require a permit for CC. Governor just vetoed bill that would have allowed free carry.

I used to really like watching NCIS until it took a hard left turn after Denozzo left.
Even when we watched it, they had this permit fixation, where in states not requiring a ownership permit they acted like there should be one.
Bet this might help lead him to sign that bill on his desk.
In Oklahoma a person can carry openly without a license. If a person wants to conceal carry, they must have a CCW. Most with a license carry concealed. Louie’s is not a gun free zone. I eat lunch there every couple of weeks, and it isn’t unusual to see multiple carriers that are printing badly.

P.S. Reporters are stupid, and ignorant of law. It reminds me of what Einstein said: “The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

What is the basis for asking him if he has a CC or any other permit?
He used his weapon lawfully and is not under arrest or under suspicion of any crime.
So sure, the police or anyone curious can ASK him ... but is he required to answer?
What happens if he just replies “I’m not answer any questions” and not providing any documents except at the advice of my attorney if I am arrested”?
Then what? They arrest him? And on what charge?
