In reality, of course, it shouldn’t matter what other people think. But as a measure of social change, the Gallup organization has once again uncovered another shift in Americans’ thinking. It’s intriguing despite that unbelievably boring sociology professor I had quite a few years ago.
Back in 1977 when Gallup first asked why people thought gays were gay and lesbians were lesbians — otherwise known as “nature vs nurture” — a substantial majority of Americans knew it was their upbringing and environment. Back then, 56 percent said that and only 13 percent said it was a birth trait.
That thinking didn’t change much until the last decade of the 20th century. But by the middle of Bill Clinton’s two terms, Gallup was detecting a dramatic shift. In 1996, the birth belief had jumped to 31 percent and by George W. Bush’s inauguration in 2001 it had climbed to 40 percent.
Now, according to Gallup’s latest pulse-taking, fully half of Americans have bought into the birth belief, while the environment crowd has dwindled to 30 percent. Ten percent attribute both causes while six percent just don’t know.
The growth in the birth believers has come across all political and demographic groups. But over time it is most pronounced among college graduates, younger people (18 to 34), Democrats, other left-leaners and non-churchgoers. It’s also moving among conservatives, Republicans and churchgoers, but less so.
The shifts parallel a similar social movement regarding same-sex marriage. Today, a new high — more than two-thirds (67 percent) — favor same-sex marriages being legal, which is helpful if immaterial because the Supreme Court has already ruled that.
Gallup also recently found the percentage of Americans identifying as bisexual, gay, lesbian or transgender has increased to 4.5 percent, a one point jump since 2012. Of course, that could also represent simply more feeling comfortable publicly acknowledging their orientation rather han an actual increase.
My take is all about Scotch. The first time I tasted it, it tasted like liquid cardboard. But I’ve acquired a taste for it and it is now my favorite alcoholic beverage.
My point: Human beings can acquire a taste for virtually anything if given the opportunity and sufficient motivation - even their own sex.
And that is what is happening today.

exactly- noone is excused from making the decision to ignore God and enter a deviant lifestyle they KNOW to be morally wrong- they make a conscious decision to cross that line- even those that were abused make that decision- They could choose to simply deal with their abuse while remain normal, but they don’t- they choose to ignore the Holy Spirit’s promptings-
I dated a guy when I was in my early 20’s who had a brother was gay. I asked him what made him gay and he told me he was molested by a grown man who lived on their street growing up. He said his mom never knew it was happening. He told me that’s what made him turn to men instead of women.
They better watch themselves. If they can prove a genetic link to homosexuality, then it’s over. It’s a disease at that point, and the ADA is all the law you need.
From there, the medical folks are free to develop any therapy they want to combat the disease.
It will also confirm what most suspected: if not a psychological disorder, then a genetic one (and for most, secretly, possibly both).
For pedophiles to be considered as having a disease, but homosexuals to be normative, makes no sense scientifically or otherwise.
Making sense is not relevant any more, and hasn’t been for a while.
This is what happens when a society moves away from God. They are left with no objective basis for morality (ie. right vs. wrong)and thus, ethics become no more than relative, subjective social consensus or personal preference. And this can change year to year, month to month and week to week. If we reject God then God gives us over to our own basest instincts which results in a downward spiral of evil and harmful behaviors. This is exactly the point the Apostle Paul is making in Romans 1.18-32. What’s really interesting is that Paul specifically identifies homosexuality as one of the sins which result from this rejection of Godly morality. And we are seeing it play out before out eyes, as this article demonstrates. This passage is so relevant that Paul could have written it yesterday.

There is no queer gene, if there was they would all be aborted.
I’ve been thinking about referring to my friends not in attendance at social gatherings as being “my straight friend {Pete or Joan, etc}” and let listeners who know I am straight understand there’s a new minority class in town.

Immutability and civil rights don’t go together.
Alcoholism and antisocial behavior have strong genetic correlates, but we don’t protect drunk driving and burglary.
The behavior has existed in every culture, in some considered normal (see Sparta) and in others a capital crime (see Leviticus). If they kept it private, just as most heterosexuals keep their between the sheets hobbies quiet, and away from children (ditto), it would be nobody else’s business but theirs and God’s. But waving it in peoples’ faces, who are revolted by it, is akin to monkeys throwing feces. It’s only going to make the ultimate reaction (and there will be one) worse.
RE: Homosexuality is the result of child abuse in every single case.
Not saying you are wrong, but can you cite some reliable scientific studies that made such a conclusion? A link will be useful.

The 13th research question addressed, of homosexual men who have been molested, what percentage were molested before self-identification as homosexual men, and what percentage were molested after self-identification as homosexual? Of homosexual men who were molested, 68% were molested before self-identification as homosexual, and 32% were molested after self-identification as homosexual.

It’s almost impossible to conduct such studies today because they’re “not allowed” for fear of their conclusions.
Note: Surveys are NOT a substitute for studies.
Traumatic childhood events are often suppressed.
Try finding trained professionals to conduct the interviews who don’t have a gay sympathy bias.
You can not decide what is true by voting on it. It doesn't matter if everyone in the world voted and said homosexuals are born that way—it doesn't change the physical reality that there is no genetic difference between homosexual and normal people.
The difference is that some people choose perversion.
