"Real Time" host Bill Maher defended himself Friday night after critics spent part of the week equating his past jokes -- likening President Donald Trump to an orangutan -- to Roseanne Barr's Twitter post about a former adviser to President Barack Obama.

Yep! Exactly why virtue signaling liberals are easy to troll; they DO believe that black people look like apes - and since they are two dimensional thinkers, they scream and scream and scream. This was a rare event that gave them orgasms.
Maher accused Trump’s mother of bestiality, which is at least as reprehensible as what Barr said.
For Maher to say this his joke was different from Barr's joke, is to fall into the same trap that says that he knows how the listener will discern the distinctions, which he obviously doesn't.

Actually, the comparison comes from Darwinian Evolution (DE). which claims that: The most primitive peoples are more directly descended from primates than the more civilized peoples. The Nazi regime thought that the Jews were “ape like” as the Muslims still do. The followers of DE thought the aboriginal people in Australia were barely people and put some in the zoo. This idea that man is made in the image of the monkey rather then in the image of God is directly traceable to DE.
It’s not the same because Maher is a leftist and can say whatever he wants. Trump supporters can’t.

Civility in the media would easily go upward off the charts. Perhaps a bit much to hope for but it might even encourage a positive behavioral change in Congress.
Is racism (or ascribed racism) the only offense which matters? You can insult someone’s mother in the most vile, crude way, a woman who never did a thing to you and lived out of the public eye (unlike Jarrett), but because it wasn’t “racist”, it’s OK, it’s “politically correct”? That’s like the disingenuous meme that it’s OK to insult a white person in a racial manner because they’re white.
Bill Maher is employing the toxic technique of Gaslighting. It is a tactic a person uses to gain more power by maniipulating them into questioning their own reality. In this case one is made to question whether the metaphor of Roseanne’s ‘ape’ is the same as Maher’s orange orangutan joke that said that Trump was the spawn of his mother having sex with an orangutan. Anyone with reasonable reasoning skills would say that both metaphors were in the same vain. The techniques is used because gaslighting works much better than you may think. Anyone is susceptible to gaslighting, and it is a common technique for abusers, dictators, narcissists, and cult leaders. Many times the victim doesn’t even realize how much they’ve been brainwashed.
For years I chose to let it go (because, frankly, I really don’t care) if I was called “cracker” or “honkey” by a black person. No more. Nope.
