Safe in Hungary, Viktor Orban Pushes His Message Across Europe
NY Times ^ | June 4, 2018 | Patrick Kingsley

Posted on 06/04/2018 1:57:20 PM PDT by Innovative

By finishing first in national elections in Slovenia on Sunday, the hard-liner Janez Jansa has brought a right-wing populist wave into another European country. Among those he can thank is Viktor Orban, the Hungarian prime minister, who campaigned at his side and darkly warned that the election was about “the survival of the Slovenian nation.”

Mr. Orban has become a right-wing hero with his blunt attacks against liberal democracy. Yet if his support was important, so, too, was the help of Mr. Orban’s friends.

In the past two years, Hungarian businessmen close to Mr. Orban have quietly invested in, or started, a handful of right-wing media outlets in Slovenia and in Macedonia. One, Skandal24, a sensationalist gossip magazine, took aim at some of Mr. Jansa’s opponents with salacious, thinly sourced articles. Another, the television channel Nova24TV, ran alarmist reports about migrants — and also got an “exclusive” interview with Mr. Orban in May.ection was about “the survival of the Slovenian nation.”

Excellent. Europe is slowly waking up, thanks to people like Orban, PM of Hungary, reelected by a huge margin.

As I have said in other posts. It is not good if the Russians amd Iranians are cheering. They are as bad as Soros. Secretary Mike Pompeo made it explicitly clear that it is NOT in Hungary’s interests to be a Putin puppet state and for Russia to have monopoly on European energy.

Secretary Mike Pompeo Urges Hungary to Counter “Malign” Russian Influence in Europe.

Secretary Michael Pompeo met with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto in Washington on Wednesday. The two discussed areas of mutual interest and opportunities for our countries to increase cooperation. The Secretary underscored the importance of maintaining a vibrant civil society. The Secretary also emphasized the urgent need to help Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, including the importance of facilitating and supporting Ukraine’s engagement with NATO, and the need to counter Russian malign influence in Central Europe. Both sides agreed that Europe should diversify its sources of energy and discussed increasing U.S. investment in Hungary. The Secretary and Foreign Minister committed to concluding a Defense Cooperation Agreement in the days ahead.

The NY Times is outraged that people in Europe are finally starting to hear the truth, instead of the tightly-controlled pro-EU propaganda they’ve been subjected to up until now.

If the NY Times is outraged, that’s a sign you’re doing something right.

Typical NY Times slanted reporting. In reality, Mr. Orbán has become a populist hero with his blunt attacks against EU overreach.

In in particular, Orbán has said hell, no to the EU's demand that Hungary be flooded with Islamic "migrants".

And it’s also not in Hungary’s interests to be an EU puppet state.

Across Europe nationalist parties are on the rise (Italy, Hungary, Austria, etc.). And it has nothing to do with Putin. These parties are not Russian puppets. But they do have one thing in common. They hate the dictatorial nature of the EU.

There you go! Exactly what has happened - Orban understands the significance of allowing Muslim immigration into his country, and the ultimate result of such insanity. He has his glasses on properly in contrast to those so-called liberals who are wearing blinders.

NYT: “Attack against liberal democracy” my Aunt Sadie Sue! Orban is defending against invasion by an anti-democratic Seventh Century political theocracy that would, given the chance, sodomize, hang, and otherwise silence the moron who wrote this tripe.

1.6 billion Muslim savages threatening Western Civ itself and people are still obsessed with Cold War bogeyman? Putin should be our partner in pushing back Islam. Its not an accident that the same global left and neocons that want mass Muslim immigration are also behind the fake Russia demonizing

E.U. crats are hypocritical and adept at dirty-dealing. China and Russia are united with them in shoving Paris Climate, Iran Nuke, and Palestine down our throats!

Germany is the one heading into Russia’s orbit. Poland and Romania understand this. Hungary needs to as well.

One of the reasons Trump amped up our trade war is Merkel’s decision to allow Russia’s NordStream 2 pipeline access - thereby soldifying Russia’s monopoly as Europe’s primary energy source.

Macron and Merkel also support Iran Nuke Deal alongside Putin. Macron signed a whole lot more economic agreements with Putin and Russian companies at the St. P econ forum than he ever has with us. All he does with us is criticize.

Earlier: Orban repeatedly stayed his desire to significantly deepen ties with Iran. (And China.)

Thankfully we are no longer led by Obama and Trump admin is challenging this nonsense.

I beg to differ dfwgator, judging by Orban’s chumminess with Iran, China, and Russia’s overreach into European energy market — Hungary *would be* a Putin state had it not been for Trump’s election. America is now offering a viable alternative for strong ties so that Hungary does not need to be in either EU’s or Russia’s corner. Poland/Romania understand this...

Though funnily enough, the EU and Russia are best friends now united against Trump. (SEE: Germany-Russia Nordstream gas pipeline deal and Macron’s fawning over “Cher Putin” at the St. Petersburg economic forum.)

Hillary Clinton election would have solidly put Hungary in Russia’s corner.

So you believe that inserting NATO into the situation improves it somehow?

Yes. When you push aside lamestream media narratives about fake collusion and see threats like Russia for what they *actually* pose — we need NATO more than ever. And Trump is making NATO better, productive, and stronger. Poland even wants a permanent U.S. base and is willing to pay $2 billion for one.

Germany is the one being stingy about paying.

I hear Mexico is in negotiations to join the Russian federation...

I’m sure that’s okay too.

We have no national interest in being an adversary of Russia. The EU is a much greater geopolitical threat.

I’d like to see this headline in the NY Times (but I’m not holding my breath): Safe in NY, George Soros Pushes His Message Across Europe

Old George must be miffed that the $18Billion he gave to his Open Society Foundations is not having the desired effect in this part of the world.

No. That is Russian disinformation hogwash equivalent to Soros-garbage.

Russia is a threat and the E.U. is unreliable.

Unlike Russian media, I make a distinction between classical Christian “Europe” and the secular “European Union.” The “E.U” was forged in the 1970s and inspired by Soviet, socialist ideals.

Classical Christian Europe must be saved. And that may mean the eventual dismantlement of the E.U.

Under Putin, Russia is Neo-Stalinist imperial state with a false veneer of Orthodox Christianity. RUSSIA continues to strengthen, fund, and supply our adversaries like North Korea, Iran, Venezuela. Even Syria’s Assad is visiting North Korea *this week!* Russia has barely helped with ISIS. Both Mattis and Pompeo have said as much.

Anybody who thinks Hungary would ever willingly be a puppet state of Russia knows nothing about the country.

Hungarians HATE the Russians. No it wasn’t just communism. Their hatred of the Russians goes back much further than that. They sided with Germany in WWII not because they were favorably disposed towards Hitler or Nazism. If put to the choice between the West and Russians, Hungary will choose the West every single time.

In international relations, a reliable competitor is far more beneficial than an unreliable ally. Pompeo and Mattis do not impress.

So you assert without any proof or evidence.

Classical Christian Europe is dead, Jim.

"Under Putin, Russia is Neo-Stalinist imperial state with a false veneer of Orthodox Christianity."

So you assert without any proof or evidence...

I've almost got you figured out. Just another reply or two and I can be sure... Is that you G.W. Bush?
