Current and former players react to President Donald Trump calling off Eagles' White House visit
NBC Sports ^ | 06/05/2018

Posted on 06/05/2018 6:43:52 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

The reactions will only continue as the week goes on after President Donald Trump disinvited the Eagles to the White House a day before the Super Bowl champions were scheduled to visit (see story).

Politicians with local ties made their voices heard Monday night, while the president also sent out a tweet restating his stance behind the decision (see story).

Some current and former NFL players also chimed in on the news.

"I guess he was upset with the delegation we were sending," Eagles safety Rodney McLeod said of Trump's decision in a text message to NBC Sports Philadelphia's Derrick Gunn.

Former Eagle Torrey Smith, who played a key role in the team's Super Bowl run, tweeted:

There are a lot of people on the team that have plenty of different views. The men and women that wanted to go should’ve been able to go. It’s a cowardly act to cancel the celebration because the majority of the people don’t want to see you. To make it about the anthem is foolish— Torrey Smith (@TorreySmithWR) June 4, 2018

So many lies smh
Here are some facts
1. Not many people were going to go
2. No one refused to go simply because Trump “insists” folks stand for the anthem
3. The President continues to spread the false narrative that players are anti military pic.twitter.com/89GUNhJ4eE— Torrey Smith (@TorreySmithWR) June 4, 2018

How, specifically, would it shut these clowns up?

The GSW should not even be invited.

True, but some of the Warriors like to turn down invitations never even extended. If they win the next game against the Cavaliers, they'll probably start declining the invitation not extended as they did last year before they'd won the title.

The NFL players seem to have not learned anything about marketing and good sportsmanship in college.

They have not learned anything because a great many of them are simply not very intelligent. Sports has always been a "brawn over brains" type of activity. Now they are scouring the worst inner-city neighborhoods for players who have physical talent. They have been brought up in households that did not instill discipline and decency into them. They are basically thugs who take out their thuggery on the playing field (and sometimes on their wives and girlfriends). I'm glad Trump rescinded the invitation.

The President is under no obligation to provide a platform for players who wish to make a political statement.

If these things are going to analyzed as if we were all Kreminologists, studying who stood where for the May Day Parade through Red Square, it is time to end the practice.

This is why we can’t have nice things. The President did not start this, but he will end it.

The NFL...hell, most pro-"sports", have become as fake, greedy and corrupt as politics and wall st.

The networks that own them are evil to their core...their bottom-line business model being $$$(greed) and control over the serfs(power)by pushing their leftist political agenda subliminally or in your face...while you THINK you're actually just watching a "competition".

Predetermined outcomes can still be "entertaining" I suppose...but don't call it a "sport".

Sport = TRUE competition, the only competition in pro-sports today are in the flood of advertisers pushing their wares against competing businesses. Throw in the constant advertising of the networks own indoctrination garbage and you have nothing but a sh t sandwich the powers-that-be expect you to eat.

So many more entertainment/other choices today, why waste your appetite on this poisoned apple?

Cut the cord, starve(don't feed)the beast.

MAGA(indeed).

Fox Business reported last hour that Fox reporter John Roberts found out that the Eagles were only going to send two to three players, the team owner and the mascot!

No wonder the President dis-invited them!!

I saw this story about the Eagles going to the White House, and I did not understand why they would. I was genuinely unaware that they had won the Super Bowl.

Didn’t watch the game for the first time since 1973... Damn Dolphins beat my Redskins...

I did not miss it.

I have moved on.

As usual, rich liberals picked a stupid fight predicated on the erroneous assumption that they are special people. White House tours are free, fellas - get in line with everybody else.

The upcoming season will be interesting, both to see what this sort of silliness does to attendance and viewership, and to see how long the media can remain in denial. MAGA.

Well fellas, let me splain it to ya.

If there is one thing American’s are sick to death of, it’s crime! American’s hate crime! They are sick and tired of working their asses off constantly to try and avoid it. They pay extra for a nice home, school, neighborhood, every single thing in their life, they pay extra for just to escape crime!

You know, filthy criminal dirtbag thugs like Michael Brown. Michael Brown was a thug piece of garbage. Most American’s choose to stand in Solidarity with Convenience Store Clerks and Police Officers. You guys, well you chose to kneel in Solidarity with the Michael Browns.

So f*ck you and your stupid game!
