New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) on Tuesday introduced legislation that would allow school officials to request guns be taken from students if there is “probable cause” to believe the student may harm themselves or anyone else.

“Parkland sparked an outrage, where at one point, people say, enough is enough,” Cuomo said at a press conference, according to Politico.

The governor, who is facing a primary challenge from the left in his bid for reelection, was referring to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in February, which left 17 dead.

“A teacher should have recourse," he said. "We’re also talking about teachers' safety here — right now you have teachers in the situation where there’s nothing they can do, and it’s frightening.”

Under the terms of Cuomo’s proposal, a school official could ask an judge to issue an order that would prohibit a student from buying or possessing a gun if there is “probable cause to believe the respondent is likely to engage in conduct that would result in serious harm to himself, herself, or others.”

Etc...

A teacher should have recourse

Yup.

Their own weapon.

Uh, 18 for long guns, 21 for handguns. Just print bigger signs Andy. And have the hoggalites endorse the plan.

If a child has a gun IN THERE PHYSICAL POSSESSION, then yes, the teacher should be able to contact local law enforcement and request that the student be relieved of the firearm.

But they can already do that.

What is really being pushed her is to use the Dem indoctrination masters to use the commie tactic of getting the kids to turn on their parents and then get their parents in trouble.

Isn't this similar to the rules/policies -- that failed -- at Stoneman Douglas?

More of the same, only deeper.

Indeed, Gov. Cuomo, enough **IS** enough.

Tree. Rope. Politician. Some assembly required.

“likely to engage in conduct that would result in serious harm to himself, herself, or others”

Those kinds people weren’t allowed in school when I was a boy...

That a teacher has that much power? Ridiculous.

You report the bad behaving kid to the authorities and let them handle it.....instead of the policy...like Parkland...where the school will handle matters.

Is this pertaining to middle or high school kids or college age kids? Middle or high school kids and under age college students should not have access to any kind of gun unless hunting under adult supervision.

I like to see something expanded in Cuomo’s colon until it reaches the size of a VW bus.

I’m going to shout now.

YET NO MENTION OF REMOVING THE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS STUDENT FROM THE SCHOOL!

BECAUSE OF COURSE A GUN IS THE ONLY WEAPON FOUND TO KILL PEOPLE, RIGHT? NO WAY WOULD A FIRE OR A BOMB WORK! SO JUST LEAVE THE AGGRESSIVE OR DANGEROUS KID IN THE SCHOOL.

JUST GIVE LIB TEACHERS THE POWER TO HAVE LEGAL FIREARMS REMOVED FROM LAW ABIDING AMERICAN CITIZENS!

THIS IS PURE BULL$#!T
