Is this why McCain is hiding out in Arizona pretending to be on his death-bed? An eighty-year-old man does not last almost a year after receiving a diagnosis of neuroblastoma! He is just hiding out and firing pot shots at Trump from the safety of his “hacienda” while avoiding the questions about his role in the whole Clinton-Steele dossier debacle.
I have heard (from Dick Morris) that prior to this, Hillary Clinton’s long time smearmeisters/dirty tricks squad Sid (Vicious) Blumenthal and Cody Shearer created the basic story in the dossier, out of thin air.
Specifically, they wanted to raise Trump’s negatives with a key demographic they were targeting in the election - suburban women.
They have been smearing the Clinton’s opponents in every election. It is their standard procedure.
They always find others to serve as cutouts, so their campaign does not appear to be the source of the lies they are promoting to destroy their opponents. They were paying not for research to find dirt, but simply to provide a plausible cover story for where their smear originated.
They have been at this consistently every election, longer than Gloria Allred has been trotting out women to make allegations against Republicans during every campaign.

The effort to push this dossier in the media consisted of a lot more than rinky-dink Buzzfeed, there was obviously a co-ordinated scheme to lend credibility to the bogus dossier - an attempted smear which included some really big media names.
Go back and look at who was treating the dossier as pure truth - the NY Slimes, JeffBezos’ WashyPost, JeffZucker and CNN, Rachel Maddow and MSNBC, and more, a lot more ... all big-name outfits who raised not the possibility of doubt that the dossier was fake ... this was a conspiracy from the top down
