My son has pretty much stopped growing about 2 years ago. He gained about 2 inches at a time when he should have gained about 8. He was already short for his age. He just graduated Kindergarten, but looks more like he's just ready for pre-school.
He's extremely smart, and has a WAY higher "EQ" than I do. So, he manages to enjoy school and especially aftercare; he has very good friends, is very popular, and has the girls fawning at him straight up to the eighth grade. With such good friends, and an inventive mind, he finds ways to participate in sports and play. But he can't really compete.
We're going to find out if the issue is Human Growth Hormone Deficiency. I suspect it is, because HGHD is often caused by an interruption in the brain's air supply during birth, and, as a preemie, he did have significant difficulty transitioning to breathing air.
I love him so much just the way he is, and, truth be told, I'm a little afraid of him growing up so much so quickly. But HGHD has health issues which affect people in their adulthood, significantly increasing the chances of medical problems which may result in early death, but it's not clear that HGH treatments improve life expectancy. And in the meanwhile, he has very low muscle tone, and can run only about half the speed of other kids.
Does anyone know whether there are any ethical issues with Human Growth Hormone treatments? I understand the HGH is synthetic now, but are there cloning issues nonetheless? Anyone with good or bad experiences with HGH?

With all due respect, God allows, but does not plan sickness and disorders. The Bible even speaks to us about consulting and taking instruction from physicians who are given healing powers by God.
This young man has a right to have his disorder treated and his healing would be a manifestation of God’s

Whether or not there are natural ways to stimulate growth depends entirely on whether or not there is damage to more than one part of the hypothalamus and the endocrine system.

My daughter was born with Turners Syndrome. A Genetic disorder. No issues with HGH treatments.
Have you taken your son to a endocrinologist?
All children grow at different rates.
You may be worrying about nothing.
what is more natural than having a non functioning or improperly functioning gland or organ begin to funtion more properly?
There are ways, but they are less known, can be quite simple, but no doctor, not even most “natural” doctors will support some of them because doctors only speak of what they were trained or choose to learn after becoming a traditional MD or specialist.
Many people could be helped without synthetics or such other supplements that can have adverse effects in other ways int he body soon or further down the road.
medical science says there is a certain window - too many people buy into western medical science, instead of the fact God created the body and science only knows a small amount of what is possible.
I would get the medical testing done before thinking about particular treatments.
I am not saying this is you, not at all, but where I live growth treatment has become a big thing with yuppie parents wanting to dictate what their child will be like and to control the process. Most of the time, height issues do work themselves out on their own. Some men are short. I am not tall and have always appreciated fitting better into cars and airplane seats (and armored vehicles) among other advantages. A short guy will miss out on some girls but eventually most of them will go for the better provider ($$$$) so he is better off working hard at school and work than worrying about his height. Of course, an identifiable medical issue is a different story.
Finally, if his birthday is in the second two-thirds of the year, and you have not held him back a grade already, I would consider doing so now. It is a huge advantage for boys socially, helps them enormously throughout school with athletics and confidence etc...
No ethical issues whatsoever with HGH.

Also, FWIW, I would get him off of sugar and processed foods. I think soda and fruit juices are a terrible culprit when it comes to height.
I also think getting off of video games and computers and into the moderate stress of outdoor physical activities can trigger a bit of a hormonal reaction. That is just an impression, noting scientific.
Think of it like insulin for a diabetic.
It is synthetic now. No bad sources for the prescription stuff.

medical/HGH supplementation approach is a canoe, I offer a boat - an effective way that would quickly help the body (hypothalamus and related system in this case) heal itself and fuction properly which can thengo about it’s work to help height (which was the main complaint the original poster mentioned) but also whatever other things regulated by hypothalamus & endocrine system. The original poster will do as they please.
We just should remember our medical science is not God, it’s a business with some noble and some not so noble purposes. Many people look to doctors and specialists as “god” to help them some doctors are godly in their approach and some don’t allow God into their work and just push what they know from training.
My SIL is 4’8’. Her son took hormones and is now 5’2” in his 30’s. She suggested our son take hormones, (he was off the charts small), but warned that they stop your own growth hormones from producing. We chose against it and he is now in his 20’s and 5’8”. I have cousins that had a growth spurt in their 20’s and are now over 6’.
I was on it for two years, from 15 to 17. I got to 5’7”, where past health and likely, genetics determined was as tall as I would get.
If said growh hormone is extracted from ground up baby parts, I think there just "might" be an issue. Fortunately, pretty much all human hormones can be produced from microorganism cultures.

I would not rush into anything. My kid sister was always an elf. Her nickname was Dinky for years. In about 4th or 5th grade she had a growth spurt and ended up 5’7” as an adult. Mr. GG2’s nephew’s daughter same deal. She has always been tiny. The doctor’s said she would be petite. Now she has shot up in the past two years to normal height for a 7 year old.

The endocrinologist thinks it might be a neurology issue. Apparently, some neurological issues can affect height, or the short stature could be independent of his muscle-tone issues.

Yes, I’m relieved that the doctor does NOT think it’s HGH related. He’s been referred to a neurologist. I’m a little concerned that he’ll just end up quite short simply because of genetics, but he is VERY tough emotionally. (The nurse had a hell of a time withdrawing blood, but besides giving me sad eyes as if to say, “why is this taking so long?,” he didn’t complain at all.)
