CNN's Jake Tapper on Tuesday weighed in on the Trump-Kim summit arguing that other presidents did not meet with North Korean leaders to avoid giving their dictatorships “prestige.”
“It's not as if other presidents couldn't have done this,” Tapper said of Trump's historic meeting with the North Korean leader. “It's that they didn't want to.”
Tapper, the host of CNN shows “The Lead” and “State of the Union,” prefaced his comments that past presidents decided not to meet for direct talks with North Korea because “the concern was, you don't want to give North Korea that kind of prestige.”
“You don't want to elevate them without having something guaranteed in terms of what they are actually willing to do, in terms of denuclearization, in terms of what Secretary of State Pompeo constantly refers to as ‘irreversible and verifiable denuclearization.’ ”

Tapper's comments come after President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Tuesday announced an agreement committing the U.S. to undesignated “security guarantees” in exchange for North Korea denuclearization.

“The point is, they didn’t, and allowed the problem to fester to where it represented a nuclear danger to the world. So Trump is the one who is finally willing to take the risks to defuse it.”
Exactly, they did not. So everything else is hypothetical.

But didn’t. If Trump was responsible for the curing of some cancer or sickness, these media dolts would accuse him of having doctors lose their jobs.
Then why didn’t they do it? Obama, Nobel Peace Prize winner, was too busy bowing and scraping to the Mullahs and potentetates in the Midfle East to meet with Kim
Have we really continued this state of hostilities for 68 years because no one was willing to treat North Korea with respect and grant them a pinch of prestige? Even by the standards of politicians, that's shockingly ignorant. Truman, Ike, Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, [and the usurper] all passed this up because of pride, and the Left complains about President Trump's ego? If President Trump ends the Korean conflict completely, the elitists still won't give him credit . . . but the voters will.
That is simply a stupid statement and shows how polluted their minds are. It WAS diplomatic genius that no other could have done. It rivals Reagan-Gorbachev Summit.

Tapper wanted Kim to send Trump home with a couple of nuclear reactors and a basketball.
