If you want to find out what a witness is going to say, the defendant's lawyer asks the witness's lawyer. Direct communication between a defendant and a witness is asking for trouble.
Yeah sounds like Manafort is one of those clients who can’t defer the defence investigation to the lawyers and their own investigation team. He had to know he was being closely monitored for any slip ups. If he didn’t his hubris is telling.
