Evangelist Franklin Graham says the practice separating children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border is "disgraceful.”
But the North Carolina-based preacher isn’t blaming the Trump administration and its zero-tolerance policy toward people who enter the United States illegally.
"I think it's disgraceful, it's terrible, to see families ripped apart, and I don't support that one bit,” Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, said Wednesday in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network.
"I blame the politicians for the last 20, 30 years that have allowed this to escalate to the point where it is today. We are a country of laws, laws need to be obeyed, no question about that.
"But the situation we have today is the result of our lawmakers in Washington over generations ignoring this, and I’m hopeful that soon something can be done to fix it.”
Graham’s opinion came the same day as Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, called Trump's asylum rules "immoral."
In May, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the nation’s intention to prosecute of adults separately from children when families seek asylum at the border. The children are placed in custody at a branch of the Health and Human Services Department while the adults are processed.

How many of these “families” are not families at all, but simply assembled by the smugglers to play to the US sympathies and media. DNA testing for all of these illegals would be very instructive.

Folks, this could be happening without Donald Trump’s knowledge. Remember, there is a child trafficking epidemic around the world right now. The Obama/Clinton/Bush crime syndicates have facilitated this travesty and perhaps even created it! Remember the Wal-Marts down south? What do you think they contain? Also, it might be added, that Congress could outlaw this practice overnight, if they so desired. Just get the Democrats on board to bypass a potential logjam in the Senate (Chuck Schumer has insisted on a 60-vote majority on just about EVERYTHING in the Senate), and get it to the President’s desk, it would be accomplished immediately.
But the Democrats would sooner have the issue than any resolution.
The best way to get a bad law abolished is to enforce it in its entirety to the very letter of the law. Most laws, if rigorously enforced, are pretty draconian, but the judgment of the Administration in power may be exercised as to the rigor of the enforcement.
God grant that it isn’t happening, but yes it could: Deep State has a way of taking what the right demanded and twisting it all to hell.
Let’s be calm enough to look at the real situation not some surmised theory.
