How Harvard discriminates against Asians
American Thinker ^ | 06/17/2018 | Ed Straker

I always knew that my alma mater, Harvard University, discriminates against Asians.  But I was surprised to learn how the university does it.  A lawsuit filed has shed some light on the matter.

(By the way, although I am not a racist, I despise the word "Asians" – it can mean anything from Chinese to Pakistanis.  Although I will play along and continue to use the word "Asians," we are mostly talking about Chinese heritage here, with a smattering of Korean heritage, Japanese heritage, Filipino heritage, and a few other groups of applicants.)

Harvard is being sued by a group claiming that Asians were discriminated against, that applicants of other ethnic groups were admitted with lower credentials.  Surprise, surprise, they were right:

Harvard consistently rated Asian-American applicants lower than others on traits like "positive personality," likability, courage, kindness and being "widely respected," according to an analysis of more than 160,000 student records filed Friday by a group representing Asian-American students in a lawsuit against the university.

Asian-Americans scored higher than applicants of any other racial or ethnic group on admissions measures like test scores, grades and extracurricular activities[.] ... But the students' personal ratings significantly dragged down their chances of being admitted, the analysis found. ...

Harvard conducted an internal investigation into its admissions policies in 2013 and found a bias against Asian-American applicants.  But Harvard never made the findings public or acted on them.

"character-based system"

So, Harvard is against written languages that don't used a limited alphabet?

I think I was usually trying significant but relatively rare words, not necessarily in order.

That strategery seems to work well with Google

Obviously, in order to ‘level the playing field’, MORE Asians have to declare themselves as Queer or Trans or even say they are Black.

Saying they are Black will probably ‘work’ as it would raise the ‘curve’..

Kinda takes away from ‘education’ when the ‘dumber’ one may be is actually a PLUS over a ‘smarter’ person....

OF course, that is REVERSE DISCRIMINATION isn’t it?

The author appears to be making a racist statement himself in the beginning of the article. He should know this:

Top 5 Asian countries by population: China - 1,343,239,923; India - 1,205,073,612; Indonesia - 248,645,008; Pakistan - 210,443,000; Bangladesh - 161,083,804

I despise the word "Asians" – it can mean anything from Chinese to Pakistanis.

I also don't like to refer to "Asians," a term that is almost meaningless, as there are probably hundreds of races and ethnicities in the area between Istanbul and Petropavlovsk--Kamchatskii.

Tax dollars should not directly or indirectly support such institutions.

“we are mostly talking about Chinese heritage here, with a smattering of Korean heritage, “

There are MANY Koreans in the Boston area, especially Newton-——and the Korean Consulate is located there.

Harvard was the same way to Jews until the late 60’s or 70’s.

I think the attitude is that Harvard confers so much governoring power on their graduates that Harvard would prefer people from families that have been in the USA a couple of generations so they knew something about the people and country they governed.

That would be giving them too much credit for patriotism.

John Le Boutillier may not agree.
