Dear Jennifer Murphy,
I need to be better informed on the issue of humane and just border security and the protection of children. I have been prayerfully following this Border Crisis issue day by day.
I clearly need a more adequate understanding. Perhaps you could clear up some questions which have been on my mind, and the minds of others as well.
1) Wasn't there a ruling in Federal Court some 20+ years ago (the Flores Settlement) --- and some subsequent rulings ---which held that it is illegal and dangerous to put children in detention with adults?
2) Aren't there a number of safety reasons why vulnerable minors should not be detained with adults?
Kids have been found not to be the children of the adults they traveled with.
3) If this is true, then in the light of these realities, shouldn't we give credit to the Federal Court for attempting to safeguard these children from adult exploitation, and guarantee that they are returned safely home to their actual families (and not child traffickers)?
I believe this is why the Bush and Obama Administration ALSO cared for children in separate detention facilities.
4) If this is false, then shouldn't we have condemned the Bush and Obama Administration which ALSO, since at least 1997, have complied with Flores and similar rulings, and kept children and adults separate while in detention?
5) What is the solution? Is the preferred policy "Catch and Release"? How are we ascertaining that these kids are with their actual parents, and that the kids AND their parents are not being exploited by criminals?
Don't we have a moral obligation to keep them out of harm's way?
Did TNCPPC take a stand on child protection and the safe separate detention of minors at any time in the past 20+ years, before now?
Thank you for caring. Please understand my need to get a good, unbiased perspective on these issues.
I respect your conscientious involvement in child protection, border security, and family unity issues.
In Christ our Lord,
[signed]
P.S. If I am badly misinformed, please educate me so I can advocate from a more just and compassionate perspective.
It breaks my heart to see you casting pearls before swine. This can only cause you undeserved grief.
I also suffer grief at the damage these swine are doing, but have long-since quit putting my head on the block voluntarily.
You call for civility is, in a way, a credit to your commitment to doing the right thing. However, Satan rebelled against God himself, and he and his servants are immune to appeals to their better nature. Their response will be the same, whether to your letter or one like this:
Dear Heretic Filth:
Every justification for your position, taken individually and as a whole, is a lie. You will bark in Hell for all eternity for your service to Satan in his attempts to destroy our Church and our country. Pull your head out and start supporting our president.
Venomously,
"A servant of the Lord must not argue.
Instead, he must be kind to everyone, teachable,
willing to suffer wrong,
and gentle when refuting opponents.
After all, maybe God will allow them to repent
and to come to a full knowledge of the truth,
so that they might escape from the Devils snare,
even though theyve been held captive by him to do his will.
2 Timothy 2:24-26
I see your point, but there comes a time when the forces of evil are at our throats to oppose them with everything we have.
Only by the Holy Spirit can he be overcome.
Galatians 5:22-25
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
There is no law against such things....
Since we live by the Spirit,
by the Spirit let us also be guided.
“My friend, Satan and his hosts are both more numerous and more diabolically intelligent than ourselves. We cannot defeat him by any unaided human means.”
I know, but here you are, trying to reason with them.
and gentle when refuting opponents.
And yet Paul called his opponents dogs and wished they would cut themselves off.
There is an apparent contrast, then?
And with my fellow FReepers.
All leftist thought, from the limousine liberalism of a George Clooney to the murderous horrors of Mao, Stalin, and Pol Pot, is of and from Satan. Leftism is a contaminant in the human cognosphere, not a natural component of it.
To the degree that Jennifer Murphy is a leftist, she is under Satans influence. It is precisely that element of her being that you are addressing. I very much doubt that the human remainder of Jennifer Murphy even becomes aware of you.
“Mainly slaughtered them - men women and children.”
You’re allowed to come here and lie, but you should expect to be called a liar when you do.
Once again - you amaze me! Well thought out and written with respect.
you should expect to be called a liar when you do.
Please, point out any lie.
We are all sinners: you, me and everybody we have ever been in contact with. We all act on the basis of incomplete knowledge, unsure understanding, and fallible assumptions.
That being said, I'll assume she is acting with as much good will as she can muster, just as I do.
We can be led astray by the World and the Flesh (it's not 100% The Devil!)
Usually we're dealing with ignorance (it's not 100% malice!)
Usually this ignorance can be mitigated, to some degree, by better information and better reasoning.
I know that works with me.
If reasoning fails, then the only things left are prayer for conversion or brute force.
We ought to try reason and prayer first.
Tagline.
With all due respect, if people don't speak out, they have only themselves to blame. (Sigh.) But do it wisely, first with the people who appear to some degree open to reason.
If I understand you correctly, are you saying that to the extent that Jennifer Murphy is a liberal policy advisor, she is a Satanist? This is a slanderous rash judgment.
In reply, a joke:
Q: What is the difference between a leftist and a Satanist?
A: A Satanist knows who hes working for.
I dont know whether Jenny supports all these bad things personally. It doesnt seem likely that shes not on board, but I guess it could happen. For the sake of arguing the principle, though, Im going to go with my first assumption.
No, not a Satanist, but every leftist is under Satans influence to one degree or another. And that is only slanderous if false, and not rash at all. Satan does a lot more than people think.
We are all sinners: you, me and everybody we have ever been in contact with.
The French apparently have a saying, If you invite evil into your heart, it will make a home there. There is a difference between your run-of-the-mill sinner and someone who has allowed Satan in, whether he is aware of it or not.
We all act on the basis of incomplete knowledge, unsure understanding, and fallible assumptions.
The words that come to mind are tendentiously even-handed. Let me try to think of some things that we all dont do, or, at least, not to the same degree.
We dont all accept that good is evil and evil good.
We dont all reject the concept of sin, and punishment for sin.
We dont all hate God, as well as everything that is good and decent.
We dont all burn with malice toward everyone to fails to support Satans agenda.
That being said, Ill assume she is acting with as much good will as she can muster, just as I do.
What does that matter, when she believes that evil is good and good is evil? The more good she tries to do, the more evil she wreaks. The ancients said, Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad. I would say whom Satan would destroy he first blinds to reason.
Usually this ignorance can be mitigated, to some degree, by better information and better reasoning.
And that brings us back where we started. I do not observe that the ignorance can be mitigated, to any degree, by anything. This is so odd, so troubling, that I attribute it to Satans work in blinding people to reason, and to his convincing them that good is evil and vice versa.
I know that works with me.
Of course it does. But youre not one of them.
If reasoning fails, then the only things left are prayer for conversion or brute force. We ought to try reason and prayer first.
That reasoning has been going on since...well, lets just keep it to our era: since before I was born. My take is that it has failed, as it had to.
As for prayer, certainly. However, I still think He wants us to resist Evil.
You have jumped to the worst possible conclusions about this woman, Jennifer Murphy, about whom you know next to nothing.
In the end, I hope you receive a better judgment than you give.
“You have jumped to the worst possible conclusions about this woman, Jennifer Murphy, about whom you know next to nothing.”
Given who she is, that’s pretty harsh.
If you know that a person is a leftist, whether social, economic, or religious, you know a lot about them.
1 Samuel 16:7
For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
Well, I know she’s affiliated with the Tennessee Catholic Public Policy Commission, and they sent you an e-mail that motivated you to write the e-mail you did.
Then, they replied in such a way that you were motivated to write your second e-mail.
Finally, I know that you have not, during the course of your remarks to me, said that she is not a liberal.
Actually, that’s rather a lot.
