It’s not like they are taking away anything he might have a shot at getting. Write off Rhode Island. Then figure an appropriate payback.

The remedy for those who don’t get to see his tax returns is for them to not vote for him.

I just checked and, sure enough, it's in the Constitution!!

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States and shall have released tax returns to the public.

-- ARTICLE II, SECTION 1, CLAUSE 5

How in the world did we miss that requirement all these years?

Demonstrates the quality of constitutional lawyers “practicing” in the state....one would assume they need more practice to get it right.

I’m sure if Peter Fonda were here he’d suggest that Rhode Island be put in a cage with some of the larger states and gang-raped.

Rhode Island hasn’t voted for a republican since Reagan in 84’ and that was just by 51%.

You know, come to think of it, tax returns themselves aren’t really Constitutional.

In the last 60 years Rhode Island has voted for the Democratic nominee every election except 1972 and 1984--and in both cases the winner's margin was fairly narrow.

Since the voters are not actually voting for the nominee but for electors pledged to vote for that nominee, shouldn't they make the electors release their tax returns?

Goldin argued that “tax returns provide essential information about candidates’ conflicts of interest.”

Yeah, right. Exactly how would tax returns provide this information?

Tax returns, she continued, are vital information a voter needs to know about a candidate at the ballot box.

Can she explain what, exactly, is the vital information a voter would get from a tax return? Other than dollar amounts, what is in a tax return that is not already available through other means?

Oh, and I have to file an OGE 450--a disclosure form meant to reveal if I have any conflict of interest in my job. This federal form required of federal workers does not ask dollar amounts. But we are supposed to believe that getting that kind of information about Trump would reveal something earth shattering.

From what I an remember, it is not law just tradition. I believe it started with Nixon but too much is going on for my brain to function.

Yes, it's in there all right.

Looks like Trump is finished for 2020.

Well, let's pack it in boys. They got us dead to rights. It's been a nice ride.

I don’t think they even had tax returns like ours when the Constitution was passed.
