Atheist? Agnostic? Maybe, but he went to synagogue fairly regularly. This is a fact.

He was a great writer, BUT he was an AGNOSTIC at best! Everyone is making him into a saint.

And??? Your problem is what? Does his religious belief or lack thereof make his writing less powerful? Less worth reading?

“Faith is something that one has or doesn't have; one doesn't construct it. The one thing I do believe is that of all the possible views of God, atheism is the least plausible. The idea that there's no meaning or purpose or origin--that the Universe is as it always was, is to me entirely implausible for reasons of physics, apart from faith. Because if you reason back to first causes, and if you’re an atheist, you get to a logical contradiction.”

Can’t you READ?? I said he was a GREAT writer, but they are making him into a SAINT, therefore I remarked that he was an agnostic at best! Geesh!

“Passing a law like the assault weapons ban is a symbolic – purely symbolic – move in that direction. Its only real justification is not to reduce crime but to desensitize the public to the regulation of weapons in preparation for their ultimate confiscation.”

“I voted for Trump (the alternative was unacceptable) but I too had had no idea of what type of President ... Some of us are immune to political idolatry.”

So, in all your wonderfulness, you “are immune to political idolatry”? Really? You think comparing Trump and Obama is idolatry? The situations aren’t even close to similar. Before both elections we, and Krauthammer, knew these things:

Obama had never had a real job in his life.
Trump was a success in business.

Obama’s church’s “theology” was, “God DAMN America.”
Trump was raised Presbyterian or Episcopal.

Obama was/is Kenyan, blatantly stated in his campaign literature when running for Senate.
Trump was born a citizen of the U.S.

Obama had no grasp of America or American history, evidenced by the number of states he noted during his campaign.
I expect Trump has a clue about that.

Obama had voted against the infant “born alive” bill, so he was in favor of letting aborted, but living, babies die alone on a steel counter.
Trump had become pro life.

There are so many other issues, yet you compare, and possibly conflate, them? It isn’t idolatry; it’s well-thought-out logic. Krauthammer knew at LEAST as much as we did before the 2016 election. His George-Will-loving, globalist, formerly Marxist vascillation is incredible.

When did I ever compare Obama to Trump? I disagreed with almost every policy of his (Obama), thought he was an awful President and would have certainly marked him as “unfavorable” if Gallup ever asked me. Your whole rant is based on a false premise.

I guess my rant was directed more at CK than you. Sorry. I know it wasn’t a fair comparison, situation to situation.

Imagine a convocation of saints posting on an internet forum and picking over the details of your life.

_________________________________________________________

You don’t have to be a saint to pick apart Krauthammer. There are lots of other principles other than some nebulous concept of “Liberty” that this country was founded on. Steppe tribes from central Asia had liberty. Hell, Native American tribes (pre-American) had plenty of liberty. Of course, they didn’t have too much liberty after the U.S. was founded. So platitudes aside, there’s plenty of war-mongering, left-of-center tyranny that ol’ Krauthammer supported. Remember how he lost his mind when Trump condemned both Right-wing AND Left-wing extremists in the racial harmony debate following Charlottesville. Ol’ Kraut lost his mind and basically said only the right side of the political aisle should be criticized. He from the same cloth as John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and the Bush family. Now I prayed for the repose of his soul last night before bedtime, but you know what...he and his kind need to leave this Earth as soon as possible.

The story begins after Winston Churchill was defeated in the election after the Second World War. He becomes leader of the opposition, and Attlee becomes the Prime Minister.

So, one day Churchill goes down to the men’s room in the House of Commons, and there standing alone at one of the urinals is Clement Atlee.

Churchill goes all the way to the other end of the men’s room, 15 stalls down... and Attlee is somewhat surprised. He looks over to Churchill, and he says, “Feeling a bit standoffish, are we Winston?” And Churchill says, “Not at all, my dear Clement. It’s just that every time you see something large, you want to nationalize it.”

Wisdom? Krauthammer has been proven wrong when he said Trump was “tempermentally unfit for office”. Krauthammer was a product of the therapeutic state who had no room for “wisdom”.

After every debate, Trump did horribly and Rubio was the breakout star. Amazing what passes for wisdom these days. Yesterday was fine with the RIP messages, but this canonization is going too far.
