SAN FRANCISCO The author M.G. Hennessey remembers the moment a few years ago, after reading a book with a disappointed 9-year-old. He wished there was a book about a kid like him, she said.
The child was transgender, and although born female was living as a boy.
Ms. Hennessey decided she would write the book the child needed. The Other Boy, published by HarperCollins for young readers, follows the life of Shane, a fictional transgender boy. Ms. Hennessey, who is heterosexual, hoped the book would enlighten children to be accepting of others.
The more you see representations in the media, the more familiar it becomes, Ms. Hennessey said.
The Other Boy is part of a new battleground for rights for people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer. As the L.G.B.T.Q. community has gained greater acceptance in America, some advocates now see an opportunity to prevent bigotry from taking root by reaching out to the youngest hearts and minds.
The fight is being waged in state legislatures and schools, but perhaps the most visible efforts are in the media, building on the Will & Grace effect, an acknowledgment that the TV sitcom has helped normalize L.G.B.T.Q. people as part of the nations fabric.
Bringing gay-friendly messages to young children has faced opposition, and L.G.B.T.Q. advocates admit that gains have been tough to achieve in the current political climate.
At a glance, however, some recent L.G.B.T.Q. content for children has had such a high profile that one might think the rainbow flag had replaced the Stars and Stripes.

Girl living as a boy...
How does one do that? :)
And Gay conversion “therapy” continues, in grade school...
"But he that shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be drowned in the depth of the sea." Matthew 18:6
“...Ms. Hennessey, who is heterosexual...”
Right. In the same way that the World Council of Churches identifies as a Christian organization, even though they reject the bible completely.
This is nothing more than trying to legalize pedophilia. It’s child abuse by the government.
...bump....mentally defective urging others to become mentally defective....what else can it be?
If someone had said in the 1960s, just when the sexual revolution was beginning, that all this stuff would eventually be taught in schools, that person would have been laughed at as a complete extremist, a nutcase.
Christianity by definition rejects the Torah, or rather the laws that it finds inconvenient. So from the beginning its structure had an indemic, fatal flaw. For two millennia its biblical ethics shaped and built western civilization in spite of its heresy. But it is not capable of withstanding the tremendous pressures bearing on it now.
The World Council of Churches is no more Christian than Lenin was.
Im 65. Grew up in northeastern Iowa. Thanking God for an innocent childhood. At 9 years old, Im not sure if I even understood a heterosexual lifestyle. LGBT- sheesh!
I was, however, afraid of Communists.
Getting sick of adding new words to all these letters...
L - Liquor
G - Guns
B - Bacon
T - Tatar Tots
Q - Quesadillas
Myself I am not for nor against ‘alternative lifestyles’, to me, we need to fight Liberals who want to control us and raise taxes and take away our guns. If everything is good, I’d fight this, but I’m fighting for my gun rights. I do have gay friends and a cousin is gay, both are conservative.
Democrats would make being a queer mandatory if they thought they could get away with it
“Sex before eight, or it’s too late.”
War cry of the homoerotic pedophile.
As a semi-professional chorister, I once agreed to sing at a wedding. I did not know till dress rehearsal it was to be a “bisexual” advocacy event. (The couple was a man and woman.)
I honored my commitment, but I felt I had betrayed myself. I am very hesitent now, since most choristers are de facto advocates for depravity.
I didn’t realize parentheses represent the poster’s thoughts. Hennesey spells out the brainwashing, when she says, “The more you see representations in the media, the more familiar it becomes.” They’re already making an attempt on pederasty. Some are probably really mad so many were crying against assaulting children.
At 9 years old, I bet LOTS of girls wish/wished they were boys. We called them tom-girls. And sex had nothing to do with it.
Exactly.
The corruption of children is something that He especially hates and is singled out for an exceptionally severe judgment.
Read Matt. 18:6 and Luke 17:2.
Those who are pushing this will face wrath unless they repent.
