I get it. But Abood v Detroit was the law of the land until this morning too. So I’m hoping for best.

Kagan’s comments on what “state and local governments thought” perfectly crystallizes what liberals are all about: giving sway to powerful bureaucracies, rather than upholding the Constitutional safeguards that protects an individual’sf freedoms.

She bemoans the governments losing out on a “secure source of financial support,” but never acknowledges the hardship this forced payment places on the plaintiff.

Yes, but, the union will be fighting this at every level, and make it damn near impossible for these folks to get out of payment.... expect a lot of lower level court fights...

The fights have already taken place in the lower level courts. The supreme court has now decided its fate. The lower courts can’t overturn a supreme court ruling.

As a member and leader in a public sector union I am neither naive nor going to violate the law.

For a public sector union to violate this law they would have to someone gain control of the city/county/state payroll system and hand enter the auto payroll deduction.

I don’t see how that can happen

I never said anyone was going to violate the law... What I said was the ruling doesn’t enforce itself... This ruling is not unexpected, and in fact if the previous supreme court justice had not died it would have come down last year... So, the left, unions and their minions have been doing all sorts of things in anticipation of this...

Eventually yes, you will get out of the mandatory money grab, but if you think everyone nationally will be free from its extraction by their next paycheck, you are naive.

This term for the Court was overall spectacular.

Oh my, those sure aren’t happy tales of happy trees. Lawn death darts, just hanging around waiting for their chance. :(

Sounds like your upcoming move is a well-deserved change! Wishing you an easy and pleasant move.

Dr. Krauthammer wrote the strategy to give them the “out” to withdraw her nomination.

The confirmation hearings on that would have been disastrous when I went back and read how she was having a lot of trouble in her rounds in the Capitol during her meetings with Senators and how she could not answer even the simplest questions in the informal discussions.

All just part of the fun living surrounded by tall trees. We had an infestation of bark beetles that killed a lot of fir trees in our area a few years ago. I have a chainsaw with a 36 inch bar and wedges so I do not have much trouble cutting down dead big trees as long as they are not close to a structure. But climbing to the top to cut them down takes most of the day and is exhausting and painful when you are not used to wearing tree climbing spikes on a regular basis.
