I don’t see anything in the Constitution that says a Supreme Court nominee must have meetings with anybody from any political party before a nomination or vote.

For the good of the Country, Trump needs to find someone who understands issues of technology, the internet, intellectual property.
The biggest danger is that in all parts of government there will be unintended consequences due to ignorance and lack of understanding the situation. The SCOTUS has the biggest ultimate impact in this area.
Of course, the nominee should meet all the other criteria also.
They are dealing with Trump. He doesn’t care what they think. They can throw tantrums at the next nominee in the second half of Trumps term. I could see Justice Thomas retiring.
