They haven’t lost anything YET. Overconfidence should be avoided at all costs. Beware fake conservative nominees and republican traitors.
Lefties never tire of patting themselves on the back for being the Kennedy/Camelot/Protest/Woodstock generation but they seem to be in denial that there is a huge, younger swath of the population who regard themselves as the Reagan Generation. Many of them are now middle-aged and in positions of authority.
As you say, the educational establishment has attempted a hedge against this by poisoning schools, especially law schools. But judgeships might be viewed as a lagging indicator due to the median age of judges when appointed. For example, I have a friend who is now a federal judge (in a rather bucolic area) and there are many like him.

I’m sure you’ve noticed that the left are big on states rights when it comes to important things like, er, smoking pot.
If and when Roe is overturned, those same states rights will kick in. If CA, IL, NY want to move Planned Parenthood clinics into their state capitols, they can. In other words, the panic about the outlawing of abortion - based on Roe - is just that.
