MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio -- A 12-year-old Ohio boy's summer vacation was anything but exciting until someone called police on him for doing his job.

Reginald Field started a business cutting grass for his neighbors, but his service at one customer's house resulted in a 911 call.

Fields said everything was going fine until his customer's neighbors called the police, claiming the teen had mowed part of their lawn.

"They said I was cutting their grass," he said. "I didn't know it."

The neighbor told authorities that the teen and his crew had cut a portion of their property and were in their yard.

Fields said he became discouraged after the incident, but then the customer decided to post about the incident on Facebook.

The post received thousands of views and hundreds of shares, and with it, a business boom.

Now, Fields is receiving a lot of support and requests from new clients.

"Just give me a call," he said. "I will be there. On time."

"Sorry....The kid should have found out himself before he began cutting from the people whose lawn he is supposed to cut. He’s not a little kid chasing a ball. He’s destroying property."

Maybe so but it was still pretty chicken shit of you Mrs. Kravitz.

What kind of lawn service - with other helpers/employees - is this kid running, where he doesn’t engage one or two of them to survey the proposed lot the lawn is on, and mark the corners, and string the boundaries? If he really is serious, run a chalk line.

I thought I was pretty clear. The video crew for the news story should have shown where the property line was and how far the kid crossed it. Did the kid really screw up and mow half the neighbor’s yard or did he make one pass over the line? Instead they just made an evidence free, heart-tugging sob story - just like they do with every other story.

“The kid should have found out himself before he began cutting”

Yes, because some people will not tolerate a strip of their lawn being mowed. Not like it will grow back, or anything.

Thankful the oddball only called 911 instead of shooting the destroyer of property.

Hopefully, a big lesson was learned by the new businessman.

Sacajaweau, 'ol buddy - the old saying is: when you find yourself digging yourself in a hole, first throw out the shovel.

No way can you parse or argue your way out of this hole...you were completely and catastrophically wrong with your original post.

??
Uh, you a lib arts major or something?
I’m on the kid’s side.
The neighbor, if they didn’t like what was going on, just had to talk with the kid.

Reality...A professional landscaper would ask where the line is.

A professional landscaper probably can't even speak English.

Had a neighbor 20+ years ago who did just that.......he actually called the cops because I was mowing ‘his’ grass. The property lines were obscure & hadn’t been surveyed in decades to boot. The cops laughed.
So - the neighbor hired a surveyor and made sure the new boundary markers were in plain sight for the world to see.

Said neighbor would sit in his truck across the road aligned with the property line while I was mowing to ensure not one blade of his grass was destroyed.......sicko.

I could see a problem if the kid mowed thru a flower or young veggie bed, but to call the cops because he cut grass? the neighbor’s messed up, needs to be charged for wasting police time or something.

I agree that more explanation would have helped... but I did watch the video and it seems similar to a strip of property between my and my neighbor’s house. My side has 5 or so feet. His has 6 or so feet... but they blend. We don’t have grass in that area, but he has a great big tree that sits across my side, and we coordinate our street side landscaping.

It was the home owners responsibility to teach the kid where the property line was. That’s what adults are supposedly here for. To teach kids. Not call effing 911 on them for simple misunderstandings.

I watched the video....Didn’t change my mind. If I hadn’t cut lawns with my bro....60 years ago...I might think differently. Never had a complaint.....and we had a push mower.
