When it comes to people like Ron DeSantis and Jim Jordan, I must admit I am rather selfish. I don’t want Jim Jordan to become speaker of the house, I want him exactly where he is. I would much rather have DeSantis in Congress rather than as governor of Florida, even if he wants to be governor of Florida. These are exceptionally skilled legislators and I think they’re doing the best job they can possibly do exactly where they are. I don’t want them promoted I don’t want Jim Jordan to be the speaker of the house where he will have 230 times as many people beating on him and lobbying him for every ridiculous thing that can possibly throw at him. Many of them will be surrogates just lined up to distract him. I don’t want Ron DeSantis to be thinking about education, that is a distracting issue. It’s not like I don’t think that these guys are deserving, in fact quite the opposite but I like them and in my opinion we need them exactly where they are.
Timing is important in politics. If DeSantis did not run this year, he would have to wait until 2026 when Putnam would be term limited. Running against an incumbent is difficult.
Agree with your take on DeSantis. Would hate to lose him on the National Trump team. I was with Trump from the get-go, and have supported Putnam since before he announced. I want the best “team” possible to defeat those who would destroy this country.

If he loses the Governor’s race, will he remain in Congress? I haven’t been paying much attention to the Florida race. I do know we need as many DeSantis-like politicians doing what they’re doing in DC. He’s fighting the good fight; we need him!
