Building is through the roof in CA. Or art least in LA where I am. Single family homes, condos and apartment buildings are going up like crazy!

Even Frogtown, which is right next to Chavez Ravine which was ravaged to build Dodger Stadium, is booming! Frogtown was all Mexican, kinda tumbledown shacks ... low, low prices, is now going thru the roof! New condos everywhere. Trendy European coffee houses.

I’m an LA native, 70 years old and I have never seen more construction. Oh, and downtown LA is also growing by leaps and bounds .... businesses booming! Real estate in LA is always lucrative ... but now it’s gold.

Talk about being left in the dust...

The immigrants pouring through the southern border must be immensely wealthy, for this much money to be just lying around on the streets of LA to support all this growth.

Cancer is growth, too.

Obviously there was a lag in Obama’s economic policies and LA is just catching up. /(is the sarc tag needed?)

My old house in Mira Mesa (north San Diego) was purchased for $105,000 in 1983. I sold it in 2001 for $242,000. The next owner added a 300 sq ft room addition, some outside paving, new floors and carpets. Current Zillo estimate is $630,000. I know the actual last sale price was $647,000. No regrets. I own TWO houses in Idaho. Free and clear. 3900 sq ft on 1/3 acre. 2068 sq ft on 1/4 acre. The old house was 1334 sq ft on 1/4 acre when sold and now cited as 1635 sq ft. Smaller than either of my current places. The Idaho houses would fetch about $320,000 in the local market. Not planning to ever sell them. This is where I retire and die.

I left because of traffic, taxes, gun laws, overcrowded everything, gunshots in the night, drag racing. gang graffiti, drug dealing around the corner, registered sex offenders down the street. Nothing too complex. My sons were annoyed at first. That changed as they learned of the murder of school mates by gang violence. Not missing it much. The short list of things I miss: Fry's Electronics, Willy's Electronics, Western Radio, HRO, Bolsa Restaurant, El Torito's, the ham radio community and my friends from school. Amazon/HRO online/Gigaparts/Mouser/DigiKey cover the missing electronics stores. Plenty of restaurants in Pokey/Idaho Falls. Most of the friends hang on Facebook. The ham radio community just isn't the same. Very small in Pocatello.
